World Book Day

World Book Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2023. Children are invited to dress up if they wold like to as their favourite book character. Please do not feel any pressure to buy costumes (children can wear uniform as normal if they wish). Children are also welcome to make a badge, wear a themed t-shirt or make an accessory from their favourite story or that their favourite character uses! We will celebrate as a school throughout the day and all children will receive the £1 book token that they can exchange for a World Book Day special edition book, which are available to buy in local bookshops and supermarkets.

Please take a look at the amazing competition detailed below as part of World Book Day!

World Book Day® is helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon with a truly magical prize. One lucky winner will have the change to go on a 3-day family trip to Soltau in Germany to stay at Heide Park, the theme park that is home to an entire land based around How to Train Your Dragon. https://www.worldbookday.com/howtotrainyourdragon/

Riddle me this…

We have had a really productive day of beautiful learning. We have explored what a riddle is and then challenged ourselves to find answers on a riddle hunt. After, we used different sentence types to write riddles of our own. Our favourite healthy snack was the inspiration! We then drew and painted our fruit for a final piece of beautiful work. As well as this, we have explored word problems using division and multiplication facts for our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. It’s been very busy!

Germs!

This week in Y2 we have been learning about the importance of good personal hygiene in our expedition lessons. We found out that germs can spread very easily and move from person to person, especially on our hands. The children gave each other glitter handshakes to show how easily germs can spread. We ended up with a very sparkly playground!
