Crew Chapman: Aeroplane Maths!

This week in Maths, our learning is all about aeroplanes. Our first challenge was to find the quickest way to calculate the number of seats on an aeroplane based on a seating plan. We collaborated by sharing our ideas and testing them. We had a good range of methods used, using a mix operations. Kian gave the quickest method. His calculation was: 25 x 6 – 2. A shout out goes to Layla and Sofia. Their method was not the quickest but was efficient: (24 x 3) x2 + 4.

They were also challenged to work out how many more tickets were needed to be sold to earn the airline £25, 000. Again there were some great collaborative learning in the lesson. Caris was able to identify the steps he needed to take to work it out. Harry, Xavier and Jack persevered until they found the answer.

It has been wonderful today to see the children’s creativity in Maths. Awesome, Crew Chapman!
