End of Year Sports and Physical Activity Awards

What a celebratory morning we have had! A huge appreciation to all the Plover children who have contributed and participated in Sport, PE and Physical Activity this year at Plover and in the community. Thank you to Legacy Sports Yorkshire for your competitions, opportunities and awards. Well done to all our winners in the different categories!

We are proud to have achieved the Gold School Games Mark for a 2nd consecutive year and have been awarded the Equal Access to Sport award as we continue to provide opportunities for girls, FSM and SEN children. #LovePlover

Yorkshire Air Museum

Today we visited the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington! We had learned a lot about the early advances of flight and we impressed our guides with our previous knowledge! We learned about some local Yorkshire heroes in the aviation industry such as Amy Johnson (our very own Amelia Earhart) and Sir George Cayley. We have seen and sat on some very cool planes.

Rounders competition

Well done to our Y5 rounders team who came 3rd at this afternoons competition. Shout out to Theo for his stand out catch which won him the special recognition medal. #LovePlover

Dynamos Cricket

Wet play meant indoor cricket happened this morning. The Y6 thoroughly enjoy their Dynamo cricket sessions! It was like being at the Ashes. #LovePlover

Staying safe around water

At this week’s swimming lesson, as part of drowning prevention week, Year 5 worked with the teachers to understand the key aspects of water safety, and learning to swim when they are fully clothed. Every child fully understood the importance and was able to articulate well how they could remain safe.

To supplement this, we created water safety posters in our we care Wednesday crew session which are now on display at the leisure centre, well done!
