English Wednesday 24th June

Good morning Key Stage One. Today we are planning for our diary. First, here is an example diary to help you understand what your diary could look like.

Dear diary,

Today has been very exciting. A tiger came to tea! The doorbell rang and it was a tiger! He was tall with orange fur and black stripes. He ate all our food and he drank all of our drink. There wasn’t even any water left in the tap! Then the tiger went home. Daddy let us go out for tea. I had sausages and ice cream. We bought some tiger food. I wonder if the tiger will come back again?

To help me organise my thoughts, I will make a list about what I want to talk about in my diary. When I write my diary tomorrow, I will use this list and turn each word or phrase (a few words) to support my thinking. You could use your story map to help with this.

1st – Mummy and me were having tea

2nd – The doorbell rang. Tiger!

3rd – Cakes eaten

4th – The drinks were drank

5th – Tiger goes home

6th – Tea

7th – Tiger food

8th – will he come back?

Tomorrow, we will write our diary. Today you need to only concentrate on the plan. You can email your plan to [email protected] who can check it for you.

Good morning, here is your maths learning for today. If you need any support please email [email protected]

TGB: adding by making ten.

Starter

Today I would like you to spend ten minutes on times table rockstars.

Here is the link to the website, your times tables have been set up for you.

https://ttrockstars.com/

Here is a timer for you to set https://www.online-stopwatch.com/spaceship-race/

If you need your login details please message [email protected]

Here is a video to help you with today’s learning.

First let’s practise our number bonds to ten.

0 + ___ = 10

1 + ___ = 10

2 + 8 = ___

3 + 7 = ___

__ + 6 = 10

___ + 5 = 10

6 + 4 = ___

7 + ___ = 10

8 + ____ = 10

____ + 1 = 10

10 + ____ = 10

Here are a few questions for you to have a go at.

Use Mo’s method to calculate the following equations.

Here is a number line to help you.

5 + 8 =

9 + 4 =

6 + 7 =

8 + 3 =

6 + 9 =

9 + 8 =

2 + 9 =

4 + 7 =

Challenge

Using the make ten method can you solve these problems.

Miss Lotysz went to the shop. She bought 8 loaves of bread and 7 packs of ham to make sandwiches for her party. How many items did she buy altogether?

The shopkeeper bought 5 bouncy balls and 9 kites to sell in his shop. How many items did he buy altogether?

There were  5 butterflies and 7 bees in the garden. Three more ladybirds joined them.

How many minibeasts were in the garden altogether?

Don’t forget to share any maths learning you have completed with me today, you never know it might make it onto the blog. Come back at 3:00pm to find out the answers to today’s questions.

Tuesday 23rd June maths answers

Here are the answers for today’s maths questions. Let me know how you did.

TGB: subtraction within 20.

Starter- I’m thinking of a number…

My number is 10 more than 2. What is my number? 12

My number is 10 less than 15. What is my number? 5

My number is 1 more than 13. What is my number? 14

My number is 1 less than 20. What is my number? 19

My number is 2 more than 4. What is my number? 6

Here are some questions for you to have a go at.

You could use the tens frames or number lines to help you work out these equations.

14 – 6 = 8

13 – 7 = 6

11 – 3 = 8

18 – 7 = 11

16 – 3 = 13

14 – 7 = 7

15 – 8 = 7

12 – 8 = 4

11- 5 = 6

Problem solving

Miss Lotysz has 18 biscuits. She eats 9. How many biscuits does she have left? 18 – 9 = 9

Miss Lister has 11 books. She gives 3 away to children in her class. How many books does she have left? 11 – 3 = 8

There were 14 stars twinkling in the sky. Some disappeared and there was 6 left. How many disappeared? 14 – 8 = 6

There were 20 apples for sale. Some were bought and there was 12 left. How many apples were bought? 20 – 8 = 12

There were 19 cars for sale. Some were bought and there was 6 left. How many were bought? 19 – 13 = 6

Can you write a subtraction equation and post it in the classroom for your friends to solve?

Here is a game for you to have a go at once you have completed your learning.

I would like you to focus on numbers up to 20 for this game.

Miss Lotysz had a lovely weekend.

Miss Lister walked her dog.

Present tense – these sentences tell us something that is happening now.

Miss Lister is walking her dog.

Have a go at writing these past tense sentences in the present tense

Miss Topliss ____________ a picture.

  1. Miss Lotysz was opening a present.

Miss Lotysz _____________ her present.

  1. Miss Lister was using the phone.

Miss Topliss _________________ on her trampoline.

  1. Miss Lotysz is making a card.

Miss Lotysz __________________ a card.

  1. Miss Lister is eating an apple.
