Well done 5/6!

I just wanted to say a huge well done to all of you lovely lot for the hook week activities and work you have been sending in this morning! It has blown me away! From tomorrow, all learning will be live via google hangout. Our lessons will be just like they were in our classrooms, you’ll just be joining on your devices. Just a reminder to join our phase hangout today at 1:30pm so we can talk you through our timetable.

I am setting a challenge to see which class in our phase has the most engaged children online! I will be checking every day and at the end of each week I will announce the winners on our phase video!

Remember to stay safe, contact us if you need anything and please, please keep sharing any additional work you complete so we can celebrate your beautiful work on our blogs!

We miss you and we are proud of you #Crew5/6

Good morning 5K and 5W

Good morning everyone – wow this was unexpected! We are having a hang out this afternoon and I would like to see as many people there ass possible. We DO expect you to be learning online and working through the slides and typing answers on there. I will mark where you need to type to help you. Please message me if you need help but I will be talking you through the learning online tomorrow.

There is expedition work set for you in the google classroom. Please type answers on the slides if we ask you to. Can you complete any of the creative tasks?

Good morning 5/6!

Good Morning to our lovely year 5 & 6’s.

I hope you are well and had the best Christmas possible given the circumstances! Hopefully you have had time to relax and recharge your batteries ready for all the learning we are going to do together this term. Although it isn’t going to start quit as we had planned, I promise it will be a good one!

Learning is going to be different to how we first planned, it will be different to the last time we had lockdown, with more teacher led sessions online, but I know that even though it is different, we will still be able to enjoy our new Expedition together.

There will be our first hangout at 1:30 this afternoon where you can see your teachers, find out more information and ask any questions. Here is the link- https://meet.google.com/ubm-hoij-uys?authuser=0  Or you can follow the link straight from Google Classrooms or here If you need to speak to a teacher before then, you can send an email ([email protected] or [email protected]), send a message on Google classroom or ring school, but please be aware that the phone lines may be very busy.

Lots more information will come out through the day, so please keep an eye on the school website and blog, but I just want to reassure you that we are still here for you, you do not need to worry, if you find anything tricky or difficult, we can help you with it.

I have attached a copy of our learning from home timetable onto this blog post- Years 5&6 working from home timetable

See you this afternoon at 1:30- we miss you all!

Plover does Band Aid!

We didn’t get to do Christmas concerts this year so years 5&6 wanted to do their own version of Band Aid to spread a little Christmas cheer. I just wanted to say how proud I am of my lovely phase and I am sure you are all very proud of your children too! So Merry Christmas from the 5/6 team and we can’t wait to see you back in 2021! Stay safe everyone!

Christmas Whole School Assembly – 2020 style

Adapting and changing has been the norm in 2020 and no more so when it comes to assemblies in bubbles!

Well done Mrs Ogle for organising our end of year whole school quiz! I wonder which class will be the winner?

It’s the final countdown……

Morning just a quick update on our busy last week.

Wednesday – Christmas dinner, swimming and wear a Christmas jumper day with your school uniform.

Thursday  – Christmas party day so children can wear party clothes to school but please layer up as it will be cold at break times!

The end is in sight at long last!!

WWII: What is Doncaster’s story?

Our Year 5/6’s have been working extremely hard to produce a product on their latest Expedition- WWII: What is Doncaster’s story?

The children have engaged in standards based learning all linked to WWII and Doncaster! The children have produced a range of stunning postcards which have been put together by a professional graphic designer to sell to the public. Please watch our video and postcards are available to purchase from the office for £5 per pack. Monies raised will be put back into phase funds to support future Expeditions and trips!

Everything went swimmingly!

We finally went swimming today and, after a lot of worry and anxiety, all the children really enjoyed the session. No clothes were lost and the children soon became more confident in the water. I was at the 3 foot end with the children who were busy dipping their faces into the water and floating on their backs! It was great to hear all the positive comments from the children when we returned to school while our classroom smelled faintly of chlorine.

Yellow T shirt winner – hard at work again!!

It gave me great pleasure to announce our yellow t shirt winner was Kyeran this week. He was nominated by his friends for being kind to others, for working hard in lessons and always being smart by making the correct decisions both in class and out on the playground. I fully agreed with his friends as Kyeran can always be seen working hard, talking about his learning to his partner or playing respectfully with his friends.

Well done Kyeran – keep up the good work!
