5W have been keeping up the great work this week! We have taken part in some more Science experiments. This week we delved into exploring what happens to different solutes when mixed with water. We found that some solutes such as sugar dissolved whereas others like pepper and gravy granules had a different effect on the water. The children learnt a lot about scientific vocabulary and had a fantastic time reflecting on what they learnt.
On Friday 14th May, we will be celebrating Pyjamarama Day in school. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas for a suggested donation of Ā£1. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of a bedtime story for all children. Donations will go to the National Book Trust, who use the money to help all children have a story in their homes to read. Children will be participating in some fun activities in school on this day, all linked to reading for pleasure.
Year 5 and 6 have been investigating how change of state can make things move. For this the staff used water that was heated to create steam, this steam then moved the pin wheel toy. We also discussed how the steam could then be condensed so the water could be reused.#LovePlover

This week we have loved our science based expedition lessons. The children have been really hands on and took part in an experiment to turn muddy water as clear as possible using only a few pieces of equipment. They used their knowledge of solids, liquids and gases to help them and I saw some excellent leadership and team building skills Well done 5W!
Take a look at what the lovely 5/6’s got up to when Plover came to Hogwarts last Friday. You can see lots of them enjoying themselves in the house common rooms, on the Quidditch pitches and at Diagon Alley. They had lots of fun! We hope you enjoy our video!
Well done to Crew Blackham for winning the league again this week. A shoutout goes to Crew Graves for reaching third place for the first time and to Crew Chapman for maintaining second place.
