Today 4BW worked together in English to take on the role of a refugee and interviewer. They took great thought in their questions and used their knowledge from our expedition based lessons to answer sensibly.

We celebrated Diwali today by lighting our candles in our Divas, listening to Lighting a lamp, dressing up and dancing.

To celebrate Diwali today, we lit the Diya lamps that we made before half term and read a story called ālighting a lampā. The children enjoyed comparing similarities and differences of Diwali to Bonfire night with the fireworks and lights.

We were so lucky today to have more special visitors in school! We had the chance to ask these real life heroes some questions about their jobs and they were kind enough to let us try on a police hat! Then, there was a surprise waiting outside – a police van! We were able to walk through the van and see the equipment close up. We had so much fun, thank-you to PC Telford and your colleagues for taking the time to come and talk to us.

This afternoon our children absolutely loved meeting some more expert visitors – who are also real life heroes within our community.
Children asked questions to deepen their understanding of what it entails to be a real life hero. This was such a valuable experience for the children as they can refer to it in their expedition learning.
Thanks to PC Telford, PC Everton and PC Sam for their time and allowing the children to explore the riot van and uniform!
Who would like to be a police officer?

As part of Expedition lessons, we had a special visit from some local police officers. Our children had a wonderful afternoon asking questions, trying equipment on and even got to go inside the big riot van. Thank you to those police officers, who kindly took time out of their day, to come and make it special for our key stage 1 children. 😁👍🏼 #loveplover
We are Historians
After learning key vocabulary, 5K looked at how trains have developed over time.
Congratulations to Neriya and Ruben for winning a Plover praise postcard yesterday. Neriya is making great progress with her speaking and listening. Ruben was so kind and helpful tidying up all the classroom resources.

As day is Diwali and tomorrow is bonfire night, we decided to make some firework pictures to celebrate. The children enjoyed making patterns with glue which they then pressed down in to the glitter.

In our We care Wednesday session of crew we discussed COP26 and how people were coming together to discuss the environment. We then went on to make pledges about what we would do to help save the environment for our future.
