All children in KS2 received a copy of the book āProtect the Planetā, as a gift from the Literacy Trust. Today, we are so excited that we were invited to join a call with Jess French, the author.
We have been collecting data in 4L about the different nationalities of children in our class. We started by collecting the data as a tally chart and then working collaboratively to produce a graph to show the data.

As I wasnāt in class yesterday morning , I found it hard to select a Plover Praise Postcard receiver, so I chose two today.
Ella has come into school and worked incredibly hard, even though she was a not 100%. She has grappled with Bar Charts and not given up and I am really proud with her great attitude to learning.
Well done, Ella,

We have been learning about graphs and charts this week in maths.
To help us to practise our tally charts and pictograms, we decided to investigate how many different coloured smarties there were in a bag – this had the added incentive of being able to eat the smarties!
We did some greater charts and really improved our maths skills, as we had to grapple with how to create the pictograms.

Today we have been investigating how are community is made up and how it has changed over the years. We have used our maths skills to create a tally to record our countries of origin. We have discovered that intake has become more diverse and people from all over the world have migrated here.
Where do your family originate from? How far have they travelled?

Today’s postcard goes to Sumit. Sumit has been very mature and responsible today. He has made sensible choices and seeked out adults when he needed help.

Today, in Year 5 we have started a new unit. We have been learning about line graphs, bar charts and pictograms. Here are some of the children who went and lead their own learning today during the maths lesson.
Children have been classifying 2D shapes by their properties. They loved drawing and finding the different 2D shapes.
What shapes can you find at home?
