Joe Wicks

Joe Wicks has announced that he will do a live workout Monday-Friday at 9am via his YouTube channel! Follow the link below!

It’s for 30 minutes each day and will be a great way to get everyone energised, fresh and ready to start the day ahead (as well as take the pressure off you grown ups at home too. Grab yourselves a cuppa!)

Other websites to help keep active are the very popular ‘Go Noodle’ and ‘Cosmic Kids Yoga’

Phonics Play

Phonics Play are currently offering a free service! This is a great website for practising phonics skills. You can log in using the username and password below to have full access to the site. Currently children in Year 1 are expected to be working within Phase 4 and 5 but some children may feel more confident with the Phase 2 and phase 3 games until they know some of the Phase 5 sounds.

By the end of Y1 children are expected to be able to sound out and read words within Phase 5.

This is also a really good resource for children in Y2 who need to further develop their phonic skills and for rapid reading practice.

Please see the guide below on how to access this for your child – thank you Mrs Graves and Mr Whitfield!

You should then be able to access the work that I am setting each day for the children (this will be set for them each day so do not worry if you cannot see anything yet, it will be there on Monday morning). I will then be able to respond to them and mark their work.

With a huge thank you for all your support

Miss Topliss

World Book Day 2020

We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day today. From work on ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’, to another teacher – I mean wolf – reading us a story and some art work linked to Amelia Earhart – 1/2T haven’t stopped today! You all looked ‘practically perfect in every way’ today – what fantastic outfits you had! Love Mary Poppins! X

1/2T meet a pilot!

What a hugely exciting afternoon! We met a pilot. Thank you to Baggy from BA for coming in to tell us all about his job. The children asked brilliant questions (and Miss Topliss couldn’t help but ask some too) and learned lots about what a pilot does each day. Baggy even let us try on his pilot’s cap. We hope Baggy has a very safe trip on his next flight tomorrow!

What time is it Mr Wolf?

This week in 1/2T, we are learning to tell the time. We are learning o’clock and half past as well as quarter to and quarter past. For those confident with these, we are moving on to 5 minute intervals (5 past 10 past etc). Any support you can give your child with this would be very beneficial to their lessons in school

Y2 SATs Information Evening

Year 2 only

There will be a SATs information evening in the small hall on Tuesday from 3.15-4. After collecting your child, please go to the main office and sign in.

Please do your best to join us as we will be sharing what to expect from the SATs, more examples of past papers and things you can do to help your child in the coming months before the tests are administered.

I appreciate not everyone will be able to make this time, so if you cannot make the event, please let me know and I am happy to send a handout pack home with your child and answer any questions you may have from there.

Aeroplane Races!!

Today we have had fantastic fun racing paper aeroplanes! The children discovered there is not just one way of making planes. We made two different planes from A4 paper, before taking them out on to KS1 playground and racing them! We all had super fun seeing who won the race!

We are going to be on Trax FM!

Today, these children recorded with Trax FM as part of their little school project. Next week, from 3:30pm-4:00pm the children will be on the radio every day, answering questions and telling jokes for the whole week. They were all fabulous and I can’t wait to tune in!
