World Book Day 2024

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.

It would be lovely to see the children dressed up as their favourite book character, but please don’t feel like you have to rush out and buy a costume!

£1 Book Vouchers will be given to children on the day which can be spent in most supermarkets and book shops, but we do also have a Book Fayre coming into school the following week, and children can put their voucher towards the cost of a book at that event – more details to follow soon.

More information can be found on https://www.worldbookday.com

We are so proud of our dancing superstar!

Well done to this incredibly talented young lady. What a half term you had! Having moved up a section to dance against the ‘Juniors’, Mia was one of the youngest of roughly 20 children who competed against each other all week in solo routines. She came home with 12 individual medals: 2 gold medals; 5 silver; 3 bronze; and 2, 4th place medals – as well as others for group routines! See, I told you she was talented! I can’t wait to come and watch you and your friends perform again.

Look out London’s West End…Mia is gonna take you by storm one day!

Y3/4 Family climate activism day

On Wednesday 13th March at 1:30pm, parents/carers are welcome to attend the year 3/4 family learning afternoon. We are wanting to organise a peaceful protest around the local area to raise awareness of climate change in an attempt to save the polar bears. We would love it if parents/carers could attend in support.

Year 3 and 4 Field Trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

I am pleased to confirm that we will be going to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Thursday 29th February. The cost of the field trip is £17, which includes entry to the park, a polar bear workshop and coaches to and from the venue.

We have met a real-life polar bear expert!

We have been in awe this afternoon when we visited Svalbard via GoogleMeet! Joanna (our expert speaker) works as a biologist for an amazing organisation called Polar Bears International. She told us so much about polar bears and their habitat – helping us to build real-life background knowledge. She is currently working on a really important project about polar bear and human cohabitation. We aim to help her organisation towards the end of our expedition by making a monetary donation. You can find out more about them on their website: https://polarbearsinternational.org/

It was one of my favourite moments so far this school year when children started getting out of their seats and as close to the screen and Joanna as they could. Everyone started the session sat at a table then slowly but surely, more and more crept closer and closer to her. They were enraptured!

Thank you, Joanna!

KS1 Playground Area – We need your help

Yesterday, the children began to develop the mini eco garden by planting a fruit orchard.

To help the trees have time to grow, please could we ask that people do not walk on the grass areas and stick to the paths when dropping off and collecting from school.

Thank you in advance for your help in protecting our orchard.
