Getting Comic Relief Ready!

Have you sorted your red outfit for Friday? The sillier the better! Today in crew we discussed why comic relief is important and how it helps children and families who aren’t as fortunate as we are. Then, we collaborated to create a beautiful piece of artwork using the comic relief colour – red! We reflected on the events of Ukraine and talked about how comic relief might be able to help families there.

Well done Crew Barker!

We are Scientists!

Today we put on our safety goggles and lab coats and we had to think like scientists. We are thinking about our final product which is going to be a turtle made from recyclable art! (Make sure you keep bringing in plastic bottle tops please). We spoke about what makes materials waterproof and investigated the properties of 4 materials to see if we could choose an appropriate one for our final product.

Comic Relief – Wear something Red!

Superstar Readers!

Well done to our year 2’s Elijah, Peyton and Brooke! They are accelerated readers. Miss Lister was blown away when she tested them – well deserving of a postcard, plover praise card and a dip in the bag! All three children read regularly at home and work super hard in school and it really pays off. We are so proud of you!

Happy World Book Day!

Happy world book day! Did you know it’s 25 years since the first world book day? We’ve had some amazing costumes in 2B, from superheroes to villains and princesses to name a few. So many children got crafty and used their left over loo rolls to create an amazing accomplice for their costume, I’ve loved it! We had a special guests in class today – Miss Wood from FSW came to read us her favourite book! We’ve also been inspired by the book ‘The Diversity of life on Earth’ – it has a lovely link to our current expedition! It inspired us to get arty and we began to draw some beautiful scenes from our beautiful world.

I wonder if I’ll recognise you all tomorrow?

Fraction Museums

We made fraction museums! We used anything we could find in the classroom to make exhibitions that show you what two quarters and three quarters look like as quantities. I’m so proud of the conversations that the children were having, I particularly liked that lots of the children were using the word ‘equal’. We love fractions!

I’m so excited to see your costumes tomorrow for world book day.

Fresh Air with Friends!

In 2B we are so grateful to Doncaster council for the activities we enjoyed this afternoon. Even the cold snow couldn’t stop us! Look how happy and excited we are – fresh air can do wonders. Thank-you to those of you who walked, scooted and biked to school today, you’re only little but you’re making a big difference. We enjoyed circus skills, healthy smoothies (that we had to make by pedalling a bike!), playing the floor is lava and biking. Bobby even got his bike booked in for a service and clean up!

I’m super proud of Vivan, Seb and Bobby today who have really impressed me by working hard. Bobby blew me and Miss Todd away with his knowledge of fractions and Vivan has impressed me with his reading. Seb, your underwater habitat is being displayed in our shared area for everyone to see, I hope you loved making it as much as I loved seeing it!

See you all tomorrow for a fantastic Friday!
