Just a quick message to confirm that Y2 will have PE on Wednesday and Friday. I would recommend bringing kits to school on Monday and taking them home on Friday. Where possible we will still have PE lessons outdoors so please provide warm clothes and trainers.
We’ve had a big push on home reading in Crew Abbiss! We are all super proud and have seen a huge difference in confidence, congratulations on your awards guys!
We had a great visit to The Deep on Friday. I was super impressed with all the children’s polite manners and engagement. We were fascinated by all the beautiful animals and their habitats. We were fortunate enough to take part in a workshop entitled: “Caring for our Oceans”. It fits in perfectly with out expedition and follows the story of a killer whale called Kal who travels across the worlds oceans to try and find some help for some friends in need. We were able to explore the effects of plastic in the ocean, the animals that live in our Oceans and what we can do to help take care of our planet. Take a look at some of the photos and visits from our incredible day!
Please ensure your child brings their PE kit to school everyday where possible. Please also read with your child for a minimum of 5 minutes everyday. I can tell which children have been reading as I have seen amazing progress in their reading AND writing skills! Make sure you keep a record of reading in our new reading records, it would be super helpful if you could jot down how many minutes too.
Well done to those of you who are doing lots of learning at home it really does make a huge difference, I will be making sure to send out homework once a week and will be giving crew coins to those who complete it!
Amazing day again today 2B. I’ve heard lots of children telling each other to ‘not give up’ and that’s exactly the attitude we strive for here at Plover, keep it up!
On Friday we became producers, actors/actresses and directors! We decided we wanted to make our message loud and clear so we hope you like our video. I would definitely call Hook Week a success because I can’t stop talking about our expedition topic.
I want to praise all of 2B for their hard work this morning, we did a lot of writing and some self critique this afternoon with Mrs Keir. Just like Austin with his butterfly, it is important we look like scientists at our work and if we have to edit it and make changes to make it beautiful, then we must! I’ve seen a huge improvement in your attitudes this term. We are not allowed to give up, no matter how tricky the work is – we can do this together 2B!
Please could you let your crew lead know if you require a school packed lunch for our trip to The Deep on Friday 14th January. The options will be cheese, tuna and ham. We need to know before tomorrow lunch time.
Also you must have paid for the trip by lunchtime tomorrow via parent pay.
Thank-you!
KS1 team.

Welcome back 2B! New year, new expedition! We have kicked off hook week by exploring our classrooms and shared areas, they look a bit different to how we left them. We have left lot’s of clues for the children to work out what our new expedition might be about. Then, this afternoon we headed outside to look for rubbish. We couldn’t believe the amount of rubbish on the school field! And most of it was plastic!
I asked the children how they would feel if all the rubbish they found was in their home and from their faces – it was disgusted! We started to think about how the creatures of the sea might feel being polluted by so much waste, and how this may affect us. I’m definitely hooked 2B and excited to find out more! Thank-you for a fantastic first day back you all put a huge smile on my face going home today!
The KS1 Crew want to wish our fabulous parents a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. What better way to get you in the mood for Christmas than to see our Nativity. We are so proud of our children, due to illnesses we had many children change roles on a daily basis, this even happened on the day of filming! This just shows how awesome they all are.
A huge thank you to you all for providing costumes for your children, they looked amazing.
Follow the link below for the nativity, sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
Please watch our fabulous celebration of learning video, with the children of KS1 narrating their learning expedition journey from the very start to their final product!
On behalf of KS1 staff we would like to praise all children for their enthusiasm, hard work, knowledge and creativity during this whole expedition – you have been awesome!
The children completed their presentation of learning speeches last Thursday which conclude this video and launch our final product posters and postcards which will go public in the New Year! To share their appreciations and state their pledges to becoming a hero within our community!
We had a true and very talented superstar in KS1 who wished to play some Christmas songs on his guitar to all of KS1. Atlas, YOU were absolutely fantastic! We were all blown away! You showed courage, talent and confidence and you should be so very proud of yourself! Congratulations and a huge well done Atlas! #loveplover.
