Ahead of World Book Day, which is held on Thursday 3rd March, we would like to invite all children to make a book character from a toilet roll tube (or something of an equivalent size that you have at home). You can bring them into your class on World Book Day and one child from each phase will win a special prize! Below are some photos that might give you some inspiration but please let your imaginations run wild! We can’t wait to see your creations! #LovePlover
Green peace visits, finding fractions and hot seating a turtle!
On Monday, we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Dawn, a volunteer at green peace who warned us about the dangers of plastic to our environment and shocked us with some scary facts! We had lots of questions to ask us and she was pleased we are taking plastic pollution so seriously. My key take away from her talk was that no plastic is even better then recycled plastic, Iām thinking I might try and find alternative ways to wrap up my sandwich at lunch instead of using plastic wrap. What will you do?
I have been very impressed with the children’s ability to see fractions, and to recognise that each part of the shape must be equal. The classroom is flooded with models that we will no doubt be using throughout the week to help us identify fractions of shapes, length and quantities. Talk with your adult at home about how you can find fractions in shapes (a great excuse to convince parents and carers to feed you pizza for tea!). Remember the important word is equal!
Cheers to Brooke for role playing as a turtle today in our seating. We have been very inquisitive and empathetic, considering how our human impact is making such a devastating impact on our sea creatures.
See you tomorrow!

Plover Praise Postcards
Check out all the celebrations of learning we had on the final day of half term. It is fabulous to see so many children reading, attending school everyday and being kind.
Congratulations to our Y2 digital leaders Brooke, Peyton, Nelly and Lucas who will be helping staff and children with technology throughout school. #LovePlover
Pride of Plovers in KS1
Well done to Samuel 1M, Hania 2P and Isla 2P who won the yellow T-shirt before half term! We canāt wait to see them next week wearing their yellow T-shirt loud and proud being true role models. Not only do they work hard in school but also work hard at home and continue to get smart. #LovePlover
Plover’s got Talent!
Postcard Winners!
One of my favourite things to do is give my class postcards. I have noticed Aseel has been doing such a lot of reading at home. She is becoming a bit of a whizz in phonics lessons and her spelling has really improved in her writing! This is because she reads so often that sheās always building on her knowledge of sounds, graphemes and common exception words. It is so important and believe me I notice if you have been reading at home! Well done Aseel!
Well done to Brooke yesterday for getting to the top of the praise letter for her excellent coaching and smart behaviour. A super role model for 2B!
A little challenge for you all – 10 crew coins if you can spot the mistake in the model at the back of the photo with Aseel! Keep up the good work everyone!

Fabulous Home Learning!
Wow thank-you Isla and Matijas for your incredible home learning projects, you have been so busy! See if you can spot them in school. A lot of time an effort have gone into these and we love the details! Check out the 3D effect Isla has achieved with her swimming fish and the oyster in Matijasā shore. 10 crew coins for you both!
Parents and guardians – if the children come home saying they need to write Miss Barker a list, itās because my prize bag is running low so I wanted to know what toys and gizmos the children love winning! Please remember P.E kits tomorrow and boggoldy book bags (brown bags with the numbers on) as we can get these changed.
Thanks and see you all tomorrow!
Miss Barker.

A Busy Monday!
Today we have started our case study 2, geography. We looked at maps, atlases and compasses – all the tools a good geographer needs!
Thank-you to Brooke and Peyton who have had a busy weekend making posters about the importance of looking after our world. I feel very proud to display these!
Well done to all of Crew Abbiss for getting the most crew coins last week, youāve been working hard and it shows!
