What a lovely morning we had in 1B yesterday. In our learning labs, we had freckle maths assessments, painting and sorting carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and writing about what plants need to survive. Dolly, Regan and Corben worked so hard that they got to show Mrs Ogle. Sergei told the whole school what plants need to survive and went for green in his writing to explain the impact if they didn’t get those things. Let’s keep up the good work next week crew! 💪
Homework and Reading
A MASSIVE thank you for the help this week. We are blown away by the improvement in the homework and reading numbers.
This week:
Bubb | 73% |
Carter | 54% |
Meade | 53% |
Jobber | 47% |
Lewis | 50% |
Pickering | 29% |
Remember – Any children who complete their homework will enjoy the movie treat next Friday!
Plants
Today, we worked in mini crews to label parts of the plant and describe their function. Every single group got it right! 👍 After that, the children labelled plants and wrote sentences about their function in their own books. Some Superstars even wrote about how trees are plants even though they don’t have flowers! The trees stem is called a trunk! It’s been a bloomin’ great day in 1B!
KS1 Reading Event
Thank you to all the parents who came to our first KS1 reading event this afternoon. It was lovely to see the children enjoying a book with their parents. We hope you enjoyed it.
Please look out for the next date.

Glitter handshake!
Today, we used glitter to represent germs. We dipped our hands in the glitter and then shook hands and watched the coloured glitter germs spread all around. We realised how important it is to have good hygiene and wash our hands thoroughly!
Shared Reading in Phonics
Children have enjoyed reading ‘Yig’s Trombone’ this week and spotting words with the split digraph o-e! #LovePlover
As part of this week’s Caring Crew, the children have been exploring the theme of kindness.
The children thought about their feeling and how actions can help to impact the feelings of others. The crews were challenged to choose a random act of kindness to do either as a crew or as individual pledges.
We hope you spot some of the children carrying out their pledges.
