In crew Topliss today we created our own reading rivers. We discussed just how much we read on a daily basis without even realising! We are always reading! When we saw just how much we had written down, we couldn’t believe it! We then made pledges to improve our accelerated reader scores to help us become even better at reading! I can’t wait to check in with your pledges later this week Crew Topliss!

Just a reminder that Year 6 stargazing is Thursday. We are asking for a contribution of £1.50 to cover the bbq costs and we will be having hot chocolates and marshmallows! Today, we have been ripping apart nappies to discover the technology that NASA developed in order to improve the absorbency of them. We were surprised to find out they contain a salt like substance. Tomorrow we will be investigating the brand of nappy that is the most absorbent.

What a fabulous start we have had in crew Topliss this morning. We reflected on our HoWLs from last week and made fresh pledges for the week ahead. We then added them to our crew display board to help remind us what we need to do to make this week the best it can be! Well done Year 5!

Congratulations to all of Crew Plover who participated in last Thursdays sports day – children you were awesome, staff you were superb organisers and parents/carers you were fantastic support!

Just a reminder that Year 5’s Harry Potter dress up day is Friday 3rd September. Costumes can be as creative as you like. If you are struggling for ideas, black/grey trousers and a white shirt would be great and we will make Hogwarts ties in school. Or you can come in house colours: red, yellow, green or blue. Please don’t worry if you don’t have anything, we will dedicate the first part of the morning to making props so all children are included.
