Who knew that Mrs Haycock could spin on the spot for so long without falling over? Never mind spin and orbit a table at the same time! Using demonstrations and a variety of video clips, 6H have built background knowledge so they can design an enquiry which would answer the question: Why do we have night and day?
I cannot wait until tomorrow so they can put their enquiries into action.

For our Maths starter today, 6C were given a number and they had to order themselves in ascending order – without speaking to each other! Amazingly, the children completed this task in less than 2 minutes. The lowest number was 0.04 and the highest was in the millions. Our number line was so long, I had to take two pictures. When cold called, the children were able to tell me why the number before them was less than the number they had, and why the number after was greater. I was so impressed with the accurate vocabulary they used! Well done 6C. You all received a crew coin for your excellent team work. (Don’t forget to put it on)

I am very proud to say that the Fishlake Floods poem Year 3 and 4 wrote during lockdown in March has been published in a brand new book documenting the floods. The book is an incredible document of the flood and has been written by residents of Fishlake. They were thrilled to hear about our poem and asked to include it in the book.
Today was the launch of the book in the village and I was proud to present them with our beautiful framed poem and artwork, which is going to be placed in the village hall.
They in turn, presented me with a copy of the book to bring into school
So well done, your beautiful work is both published and on display for posterity in the village!

Last night was amazing. We had the best time waiting for the stars to come out: making dens with our blankets, playing football; enjoying a bbq (shout out to Mrs Coward and Mr Meade for cooking the burgers and sausages) and yummy marshmallows. We’ve settled down to listen to constellation stories. We’ve seen lots of stars and we’ve even seen a shooting star! Ask your children to retell a constellation story when hey arrive home!

Year 6 are so excited for stargazing. We have just settled down after a bbq tea and s’mores and we are now getting ready for stargazing and hot chocolate! What fabulous fieldwork for our Expedition!
