Pride of Plover winner

Congratulations to Ethan who is this weeks yellow t-shirt winner in 1M!
Ethan has shown great number knowledge with numbers up to 100, but more impressively he has independently written a narrative about our text The Storm Whale.
Keep it up buddy!

Congratulations to Darcy in 1.2C for winning the yellow t-shirt. He has been applying his phonics in his writing to create some brilliant sentences.
Well done Darcy!

Expedition map making

This afternoon we did our ‘virtual’ fieldwork of The Seaside.

The children then created their own maps and labelled them with facilities and places we wound find at the seaside.

Pyjamarama Day

On Friday 14th May, we will be celebrating Pyjamarama Day in school. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas for a suggested donation of £1. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of a bedtime story for all children. Donations will go to the National Book Trust, who use the money to help all children have a story in their homes to read. Children will be participating in some fun activities in school on this day, all linked to reading for pleasure.

English starter

Number bonds to 100

Thinking hats on in 1M maths this morning:
“ If I know 6 and 4 make 10… then I know 60 and 40 make 100.”

Collaborative fun, helping the children recognise the multiple of 10, make the number and then find the number bond to make 100 🧠👥

Collaborative Learning

This week 1M have been learning place value of numbers up to 100. Counting groups of ten with dienes and recording it on a place value chart…

Role playing, writing and critiquing each other’s work about the beginning of our text ‘The Storm Whale’ focusing on verbs, nouns, suffixes and prefixes…

Even learning a bit of street dance…

Keep up the great work superstars!
