Just a quick reminder that it is the Y3 and Y4’s Family Learning Event on Tuesday 4th February. We will begin at 1.45. You’ll get the opportunity to find out about Reading and Maths in LSK2 and be able to spend time with your child having a go at some reading and maths activities.

It was a very quiet afternoon in 5K as half the class was participating in an athletic event. Mr Whitfield and the pupils seemd to have enjoyed the afternoon out – hopefully we had some winners! Either way I am sure our children were good sports and represented the school in a good light with their best behaviour as always!
Today, these children recorded with Trax FM as part of their little school project. Next week, from 3:30pm-4:00pm the children will be on the radio every day, answering questions and telling jokes for the whole week. They were all fabulous and I can’t wait to tune in!
Years 3&4 have had so much at their film night tonight watching the Grinch in their Pj’s! They are currently eating hotdogs and drinking chocolate milkshake! Thank you to all the staff who stayed to support this event and to parents for supporting us to raise money for school funds. The children have behaved beautifully and are very much so in the Christmas spirit!

Year 4 have had an awesome day at Magna as part of our science curriculum.
We extended our classroom learning with workshops about magnets and circuits and we brought our learning to life in the Earth, Water and Fire zones,
The children were fantastically well behaved and had a really great time.

At Y3/4 yoga club our skills are developing nicely, with some of our girls mastering the difficult yoga pose!

It was a real honour for year 4 to represent Plover School today at the World Cycling Championships. We were’t competing of course, but we formed the support crowd to cheer on the cyclists as they raced along Leger Way.
Waving our Yorkshire Flags, we shouted and cheered and we were even filmed by the BBC and got a mention for the school – you can see us on the BBC Iplayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/cycling/48373975 (14:09)
It was so exciting to see the police motorcyclists, helicopter and support vehicles – and then eventually the cyclists, but in the blink of an eye the were gone!

Plover had a robot invasion today, as robots of all shapes and sizes descended on year 3 and 4. Class 4G’s creativity was certainly on show with some amazing costumes and really clever design. Well done to all the children, families and friends that help to create them.
We were getting ‘hooked’ into our class book today – ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. We made predictions about the book from the clues on the front cover and then shared the first chapter.
Following this we tried our hand at acting – as we re-enacted the key scenes from Chapter 1 – I think we have some future oscar winners in our midst!
The highlight of the day was definitely this afternoon when the whole of year 4 came together to watch the brilliant film ‘Robots’. We even got to share some popcorn as we watched!

Wednesday afternoon is the Year 3/4 Family learning event. We are wanting to make tin can robots but we need your help. Pleases could you bring any clean used tin cans into school on Tuesday or Wednesday so the children can make their robot.
Also, we would like old nuts and bolts and general metal bits and bobs to decorate the tin cans with – again, please could these be brought into school on Tuesday or Wednesday.
