A big ‘thank you’

Tracy, our cleaner, would like to say a big Thank You to all the children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6, for how much they have looked after the toilets this last week. She is so proud of you all and you have really helped to make her job less difficult.

Well done, I am really proud of you to and want to send a special Thank You to our volunteers who have been keeping an eye out at beak and lunchtime.

Homelearning

I have shared home learning activities on google classroom with children and we have been practicing them in school – trying to iron out any teething problems. I’m pleased to see children have accessed them from home.

Everyday, I would like all children to fill in the daily feelings chart by adding their feeling into the grid on google classroom. I will check this in the morning as a way of keeping in touch.

I will upload a maths, english and expedition task every day for children to complete, and I will mark and return all work that has been ‘handed in’.

thanks

4G Epic Reading!

I have discovered a lovely website that will allow our children to read full books, watch videos, listen to audiobooks and read comics plus they can then complete quizzes on what the have read.

The website is called ‘Epic Reading’ and you can find it at www.getepic.com

Instructions for how to access the website can be found at:

Epic!_ Read Amazing Children’s Books Online – Unlimited Access to the Best Books and Learning Videos For Kids 12 and Under

There is a special offer at the moment to enable children to access the programme for free at home during the Coronavirus period. I will need a parent email address in order to send the link – if you comment below with your child’s name, I will be able to get an email address,

Any questions, please comment below

Thanks

Busy Week in 4G

It has been a busy week in 4G, We have been learning about fractions more than one and how to write them as improper fractions and mixed numbers.

In English we have been planning and drafting our own description of a new room in Willy Wonka’s factory for our extended writing.

We got creative this afternoon making Maya Masks – photos to follow .

Mrs Graves has been investigating a new tool – Google classroom – that will help us to share information and work between home and school. More information to follow.

Can you tell who we are??

We have had a lovely day in 4G celebrating books and reading today, for World Book Day. Such a lovely variety of costumes and books represented by the class – from the Christmasaurus to Harry Potter, Matilda and a newt to the Queen of Hearts with a playing card soldier.

Well done 4G for your creativity and imagination – and keep reading!

Remember to keep getting your reading cards signed for that chance to go to Thorntons for a Hot Chocolate!

Fabulous Fractions

Today we have been working on fractions in maths. We have worked collaboratively to create examples of how to represent different fractions using different materials, such as numicon, beads and lego.

We know that fractions are made from numerators and denominators.
