Amazingly Awesome Artwork

Look at this amazing image of Douglas Bader sketched by Tilly Lambe! What a star she is!  Perhaps you could ask your child why he was so important in the Battle of Britain.

Cracking the Enigma Code

Today we have been trying to crack the Enigma Code just like those who worked at Bletchley Park during WW2.  It was certainly a challenge! We wonder how on earth they managed this without the little clues we were provided with by our expert visitor.

Real war memorabilia!

We have lots of fun looking at real war memorabilia and discussing the items. The children had the opportunity to try some items on. They also had to guess who the items belonged to before sketching! The children have had such a fun day and they have learnt so much! Ask your children something they have learnt today. I know they’ll have lots to share!

Our WW2 expert visitor

Year 6 are just getting started with our WW2 expert! I can’t wait to experience this with them as I know the lady is extremely knowledgeable and has lots of fun activities planned. I just want to thank parents for contributing towards these experiences for our children as they really do get so much from them! Keep checking your child’s class blog for more pictures of what we get up to during the workshop!

Check year 6’s blog for more photos!

Reading From Home Online

Online reading books!

Myon is now ready to use so you can read books from home (online) using www.myon.co.uk

There is a link from the home page of the school website that will take you straight to the site.

Myon is an online digital library of reading books (a bit like Epic Reading if you have used that before.) but the benefit is that it has books linked to Accelerated Reader, so you can quiz on lots of books they read online. You can link your account to AR and it will suggest books for you to read which are personalised to your reading fluency. The great thing is that you can access these books from home.

Your logins are the same as logging onto AR.

There is a parent guide to using this uploaded into our google classroom.
