Aircraft museum visit…..

At the start of the holidays, I dropped into the Aircraft Museum to drop off some of the postcards we made based around Doncaster’s experience in WW2. The gentleman I spoke to could remember discussing them before the lock down. He was very impressed with the quality and standard of the drawings! look out for them in the shop if you visit.

5/6 HOWLs challenge!

I am challenging 5/6 next half-term! All children who achieve an average of 3 on their HOWLs will be put into a prize draw to win a takeaway afternoon tea (Harry Potter theme of course) from cupcakes 2 love ltd. There will be one winner from year 5 and one from year 6!

We are artists!

Here is a sneak peek of some of the art work that will be featuring on our final product at Doncaster Train Station. The children are so excited to see the final draft! They have worked so hard through the critique process to make their artwork the best it can be! I am sure you will agree that they have done an amazing job!

We are editors!

Today, 6H have been provided with samples of text which could be found in a non-chronological report about the Industrial Revolution. The only problem was that the text had not been edited or proof read at all! Therefore, there were lots of errors which the children had to collaboratively identify and correct before explaining what edits they made and the impact that these had on the reader.

We will be pie chart experts!

I was taken aback by the support and encouragement that was displayed in maths today. Everyone battled through together to succeed in the challenge of drawing a pie chart. Well done everyone!

Mean maths and fantastic friends!

Kiah and Tilly both discovered that they were more confident at finding the mean of a set of data than they thought they would be – especially with Lexi keeping her beady eyes on them. Well done girls: true crew spirit!

Postcard winners…

I’m so proud of the three boys mentioned below: they’ve been awarded one of our many, brand-new inspirational postcards. Well done boys!

Lucas, you really are a superstar and your self motivation has been very much noticed – by others as well as by me.

Branden, Adam, superb all-round improvement boys!

We are coaching superstars!

Just look at how engrossed these coaches and learners are! They were considering the level of detail they had used in the planning stage of their non-chronological reports about child labour during the Industrial Revolution.

Keep up the great work 6H.

We need to read!

Please encourage your children to read as often as possible. Reading has been an area we have been trying to promote in a number of different ways across school and the friendly competition is heating up.

Come on though 6H… We made into the top three this week (at last) but can we do even better still?

Let’s get reading!
