Christmas Cards

Hello Year 3 and 4 adults!

The time is nearly upon us to start thinking about Christmas in school. Many children and adults ask us about cards. Due to the current situation, we have thought about how best to go about the giving and receiving of cards in school this year.

This year, please only send cards to children in your year group bubble (eg 3S and 3T or 4G and 4L).

From December 1st, children can bring cards and place them in the year group post box. This will be in their classroom. Cards can be dropped in any day up until 11th December.

On 11th December, the post box will close and no further cards can come into school. This will mean all cards will enter a period of quarantine. On Tuesday 15th December, all cards will be given out.

Please ask a member of the 3/4 team if you have any further questions.

Thank you for your support in helping to enjoy the joy of giving and receiving cards, whilst keeping everyone safe.

Roman Zoom chat

We were very lucky to have a University Professor talk to us online today about the Romans and what they brought to Doncaster.

The children were really well behaved on the chat and had lots of interesting questions to ask the professor.

If the children have any more questions they would like to ask Peter about the Romans in Doncaster, then please bring them to school on Monday morning and we will collect them together to send to him.

Have a lovely weekend!

Children in Need

We had a great time on Friday celebrating Children in Need. The children all looked fabulous in their spotty outfits!

Happy Friday!

What a super Friday!

Well done Jakob, you won your yellow t-shirt for being so kind to others!

We had fun doing art today, as well as using the Chromebooks for times tables practice.

Very excitingly, we won class cash this week! ÂŁ10!!! Have a think over the weekend, what do you think we should do with the money? Should we save up and try and win again next week? This would give us more to spend on a bigger treat. Perhaps you think we should spend it now? The vote will be on Monday!

Have a great weekend. Please remember to bring your kits on Monday.

4G are scientists!

Today, we were looking at the results of our science experiments and making conclusions.

We looked at what plants need to live and decided that the most successful cress had light, water and nutrients. Even though seeds in other conditions sprouted, the plants were smaller and very pale.

We were really excited about how our experiment into how water is transported through plants turned out. It was hard to draw conclusions about which temperature conditions were the best for the celery, but we could very clearly see how the water and food colouring was absorbed and transported through the xylem in the celery. We cut the celery horizontally and could see the small holes of the xylem in the end of the stem and then we cut the celery vertically and could see how the xylem went right through the plant to the leaves at the top.

It’s great being scientists!

Remembrance Day

This morning Y3 are listening to a war expert. We have found out many interesting facts about the war. Today, we remember all those who have served our country and those who have died. Thank you for your support with the poppy appeal.
