LKS2 investigate ā€˜How clean are your teeth?’

We have had a great week in LKS2 this week learning all about our teeth.

In English we have been comparing diary entries, looking at an extract from ā€˜A poo, a gnu and you’ and ā€˜Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. When then wrote our own diary entries around visiting the dentist.

In Expedition, we have learnt the names and functions of the different teeth, as well as what a tooth is made from – but best of all, we investigated how clean our teeth are using disclosing tablets – that created a few giggles!

Hopefully parents, you won’t have a battle getting the children to clean their teeth this weekend!

What time is it 4L?

In our daily Maths Meetings, we are having a big push on telling the time, both in 12 hour clock and 24 hour clock. It would be really helpful if this could also be reinforced at home, simply throughout the day asking your child what time it is or asking how many minutes it is until a certain event.

Thank you for your continued support.

Accelerated Reader League

Well done to Crew Blackham for coming first again in our reading league, and to Crew Chapman for coming a close second. A shout out goes to Crew Lister for gaining third place; you must have been reading your socks off.

Home learning

What a great start to the home learning I have received in 4L. Don’t forget to hand in any bits of home learning on Monday’s to earn yourself 10 crew coins.

Dress as a scientist day.

We have enjoyed a fabulous day in 4L. We have enjoyed dressing up as scientists, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. We have also drawn the digestive system onto aprons which are looking really effective. Finally, we ended the day by watching Inside Out.

What a Wonderful World

Before Easter we completed our expedition by recording our Plover version of the song ‘What a Wonderful World!’ We will be using this in the celebration of our Spring Expedition in May but we thought you would like a sneak peak. You can watch it on Youtube here:

We have also completed giant collaborative artwork for our final product, The Great Wave.

We decided to delay celebrating our expedition until all children had returned to school, to ensure that they could all contribute to the Final Product- I am so glad we did as the result is fantastic.

We are scientists in LKS2

We have had great fun in LKS2 during Hook Week and we can’t wait until our dress up as a scientist/medic day tomorrow.

As well as getting creative to immerse our classrooms for our new theme “How do we make Doncaster more Healthy?”, we have developed our inner scientist, learning about animals and humans.

We have researched and learnt how to classify animal species and played a giant game of Tag to learn about food chains

I have spoken to so many children who have been really excited about our new expedition and cannot wait to find out more.

I look forward to seeing what this expedition has in store!
