The Mayor Visits KS1

This afternoon as part of our current expedition the children in KS1 had a special visitor – The Mayor of Doncaser, Ros Jones.

We started the Q&A with our guiding question “would you staycation in Doncaster?”

We would like to thank Ros for her time, it was great for us all to meet her in person. We also would like to thank Ros for sharing her experiences, expertises and views about Doncaster – the children found her answers really valuable to why Doncaster is such a great place.

Numbers Everywhere!

We have had a great day using problem solving skills to answer number problems. The children have worked really hard to use a whole range of different math’s skills to help them to work out mystery numbers or to crack the secret pattern on the 100 square. They have all worked really hard. After all of the intense concentration, we got super active and danced to our times tables whilst learning them at the same time. Great work Year 2!

Pride of Plover

Massive congratulations to this week’s Pride of Plover winner, Tommy!

He has had an awesome week and many adults have commented on how much progress he has made and how mature he is becoming. Tommy has not only worked really hard on doing his own learning but he has been really keen to support others and has helped them with their learning to! The collaboration he has been doing has been awesome. Well done Tommy!

Pride of Plover winner

Congratulations to Ethan who is this weeks yellow t-shirt winner in 1M!
Ethan has shown great number knowledge with numbers up to 100, but more impressively he has independently written a narrative about our text The Storm Whale.
Keep it up buddy!

Congratulations to Darcy in 1.2C for winning the yellow t-shirt. He has been applying his phonics in his writing to create some brilliant sentences.
Well done Darcy!

Expedition map making

This afternoon we did our ‘virtual’ fieldwork of The Seaside.

The children then created their own maps and labelled them with facilities and places we wound find at the seaside.

Pyjamarama Day

On Friday 14th May, we will be celebrating Pyjamarama Day in school. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas for a suggested donation of £1. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of a bedtime story for all children. Donations will go to the National Book Trust, who use the money to help all children have a story in their homes to read. Children will be participating in some fun activities in school on this day, all linked to reading for pleasure.
