Day One of using Google Classroom

Evening all,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you who have accessed our online curriculum today.  Please be patient with us as we all try to get to grips with this method of working.  We WILL get through it together.

If any of you are unsure about anything, please feel free to email me with your questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  If you didn’t see last night’s blog post, check it out – it will help those of you who may have forgotten how to access Google Classroom etc.

Shout outs to Adam and Luca for keeping me busy with online marking.  Hopefully you have recieved your marked worked back again.

Mrs H

Thank you 5/6!

A huge thank you to all of those children who have attempted to access google classroom today. We really do appreciate the patience and support of parents/carers and children during this difficult time. This is not something we have been using for very long and we hope it becomes more straight forward as we get to grips with it.

Should any of your children have trouble accessing google classroom, please let us know! I will be in school this week and therefore, I can be contacted via both my email and by phoning the school office. I will try my best to assist everyone who needs help as quickly as possible.

I have numerous links as additional learning tools to support your children at home and we would love to see children creating work linked to our new mini topic ‘the Tudors’. Feel free to email us pictures of your children working and their finished pieces and I will blog them! You can be as creative as you wish!

We would also like to see your children creating pictures of rainbows to display in their windows to show that we are altogether and we will get through this together! Please feel free to send pictures in of these also.

Thank you again, we really do appreciate your support and patience and we are here to help!

Good Morning 6H

Morning everyone,

I hope you are all okay on what seems to be a very strange Monday morning – one of my dogs keeps looking at me as if to say, ‘Why on earth are you still here?’ – The other is still snoring upstairs.

The daily check-in for our class and your learning are both accessible through our Google Classroom.  I put a post on here last night to remind you how to do this.

Have a great day and I look forward to reading the work you submit.

I miss you all and hope to see you as soon as is possible.

Ready for Google Classroom?

Evening everyone,

I hope you’re all well.  In preparation for what I am sure is going to be a strange few weeks ahead, I thought I’d pop a reminder on here of how to access Google Classroom and complete your work through it..

First open up Google chrome (preferrable) or microsoft edge.

Search for ploverschool.co.uk and go to the school website.

Click on the green login button – top righthand corner.

In the username box, type in your email address (like you would when logging in on a chrome book).

In the password box, type the same one as when logging into a chrome book – unless you have already changed it that is!

Click on the green rectangle, outlined in yellow, with a person icon on it.

This should give you access to our online classroom.

Click on 6H – 2019/2020.

Here you will see our class comments stream – give it a read.  There may be some useful tips from your crew mates on it.

Click on the classwork tab at the top.

Here are all of the lesson slides and resources you will need for the day, as well as your daily check-in chart. The English and Maths slides have been prepared for the full week but the individual days have also been identified on the slides.

To complete a task:

First, click on your required task.  Then click on the short cut which will pop up for this task.  Leave this tab open but click back onto the ‘Classwork’ tab. Then on ‘View Assignment’.  On the left you should see a ‘+ Add or create’ option, click on this. Select ‘create new google doc’. This will be your answer sheet. Complete your work on this page.  When your work is complete, click on the ‘Turn In’ button followed by ‘Hand In’ if you are certain you are ready for it to be marked.

Dont forget you can email me or drop comments on our class stream if you want to.

Mrs H

Thank you year 5 & 6!

The staff and delivery drivers from Asda wanted to say a huge thank you for the cards of thanks and encouragement to keep going. We have more cards on the way to residents in care homes in self isolation and to the NHS staff. I am so proud of you all for thinking of others and being so kind in such an uncertain time for all. Stay safe everyone and keep checking our blog! We hope to see you all very soon!

Google Classroom is an exciting piece of software that allows us place learning online!

In order to help the children access this easily, Mrs Graves has prepared a document that will help the children get on to Google Classsroom!

See you soon Year 6!

Just a message to say that today is not good bye to Year 6.

We don’t know exactly when we will return to school however should it not be until September please rest assured that we will have a leaver’s party as soon as we can!  Myself and the Year 6 team want to give all of the children in the year group a chance to celebrate their primary years at Plover as they start the next chapter in their lives.

I’m sure this will include t-shirt signing and plenty of selfie taking!  We will of course aim to include our parents and carers too.

Stay safe and please remember we are here if you need anything in the coming weeks.

Accessing learning from home

Good morning, all work will be added onto google classrooms ready for children in years 5&6 to access from Monday. We have demonstrated this in school so children are as prepared as possible. On there, we have also added numerous links to support your children’s learning at home. We ask that ALL children at home complete the daily check in between 8:30am and 9:30am each morning so we can keep in contact with children every day. We encourage all children to complete one maths, one literacy and one expedition lesson a day. If you or your children have any questions- please use google classrooms to contact your child’s teacher or myself as phase leader- [email protected]

We want to thank you all for your support and patience during this uncertain time. We are here to support you and your children as much as we possibly can.

In regards to the London trip, I am in continuous contact with the company we have booked with. I want to remain positive and optimistic as so many of our children are so excited about this trip. But of course, in reality, there is a high chance it will be cancelled. Can I ask all parents make no further payments and should it still go ahead, we can sort payments closer to the date. We do have the option to reschedule to July, but of course nothing can be finalised at this time. I will try to have updated everyone with a final decision before Easter. Should anyone want refunding, please let me know- it is possible to move the money out of your parent pay account and into your bank.

I am keeping everything crossed this trip can go ahead for our children, they deserve it!

Please keep in contact, stay safe and hopefully I’ll get to see you all soon!
