The author, Jacqueline Bellew, has very kindly sent us three signed copies of her enrapturing novel: The Skry Pit Kids.
Three lucky children from across phase 5/6 could become the owners of these books.
How to win a copy: give your name to Mrs Haycock if you want to be included in the competition; read (from your star colour); pass quizzes on MyOn or Accelerated Reader.
The three children who have achieved the most minutes read by the end of the school year will be awarded their own signed copy of this amazing book.
Get reading guys!

6H had great fun preparing and presenting short performances earlier this week. They performed in role as muggles who had spotted a flying car in the skies above their neighbourhoods.

6B have been grappling with statistics this week. They have worked extremely hard with a range of fluency, reasoning and problem solving activities. They have all worked so hard to ensure they achieved their ME and they’ve really pushed themselves to articulate strong reasoning responses. I am proud as punch! Well done my lovely lot 🌟🌟

John-Henry and Lucas were so excited to share their writing with me this afternoon. I was blown away by the effort both boys had put into their writing and I feel so proud of both of them! Well done you two!

Our class have really shined in maths this week with some super work! The children have loved working collaboratively in our maths sessions when looking at decimal numbers. Very proud! Keep up the good work 5W!
These guys have shown great resilience in their Maths work today, when grappling with percentages and pie charts. Awesome.

I have to give Maison a shout out for his awesome recount! Maison listened to every piece of advice he was given during our peer critique session and he has produced a stunning piece of writing which he should be truly proud of! I am so pleased with his efforts! Well done matey!

This morning, 6B were given the task to act out the scene where muggles see Harry and Ron driving the flying car in Harry Potter. Each group were assigned roles and given time to plan and prepare as part of our speaking and listening lesson. I am blessed with budding actors in my class as the performances were awesome! I can’t wait to get started on the writing to support this session! Well done my lovely lot!

A shout out goes to Sofia and Zara today for being learners of their own learning, with great success. They analysed sources independently and were able to answer questions about the Industrial Revolution.
Well done.
