Mess and fun everywhere!

Thanks to all the parents and carers that attended the family learning in Year 5/6. It was very messy but loads of fun! The slime proved to be a challenge and didn’t always turn out correctly. It was fun for the children to share the mums and dads who attended. Maison enjoyed the quiz and his mum did get one question wrong he would like to point out!!

Thanks again to everyone!

Mathematical Madness!

Over the course of today, 6H have expanded their mathematical vocabulary in many areas.  They now know the terms radius and diameter and can calculate one if they know the other.

They have also made a fabulous impression on our visitors who have been in school all day.

Proud teacher – once again.  Well done, 6H.

Peer critiquing in literacy

6B have worked so hard this morning during their peer critique session. They carefully identified the features they had used against the RUBRIC and gave each other next steps to be able to achieve their required step.
I am so proud of you all 6B and your newspaper reports are sounding awesome!

Calling All Parents and Carers…

SATs are rapidly approaching and your children may need some encouragement to become leaders of their own learning.  They have already brought home a list of various online sites that are helpful and I hope they have been used.  If they haven’t, there’s still plenty of time.  Perhaps you could draw up a reision timetable with them so they can organise thier time effectively?

Children should be practising the spelling of all Y5/6 words which have been split into groups of fifteen and are tested in lots of fifteen weekly.  In addition, they need to continue to speed up their recall of all multiplication facts up to 12 x 12.   There are many online games which help with this.

This week, I will be sending home some additional work to help prepare your child for their SATs exams.  Please encourage them to complete this work to the best of their ability rather than just rushing through it.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Mrs H

The end is in sight!

Just to let all parents and carers know that next week [5th Feb] is our last swimming lesson. It has been great to see your children grow in confidence and become better swimmers. We have been quite lucky as most children remembered their kit and we lost no items of clothing!

Family Learning Event

Just a quick reminder that it is the Y3 and Y4’s Family Learning Event on Tuesday 4th February. We will begin at 1.45. You’ll get the opportunity to find out about Reading and Maths in LSK2 and be able to spend time with your child having a go at some reading and maths activities.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Enjoy the weekend!

We are on our way home!

We are on our way home from a fantastic day out at the National space centre. I am unbelievably proud of each and every child today as their behaviour has been fantastic! The children have learnt so much and can’t wait to share their experiences with their parents and carers tonight.
We are aiming to be home for twenty past four, please can we ask parents to not park directly outside of the school at our time of arrival to allow our driver to park safely.

Water water everywhere!

All the children really enjoyed the swimming safety experience today. All trunks and costumes were present and correct! No doubt they will sleep well tonight as I could see them getting tired with the effort it took to swim in their clothes. Well done year 5. Remember next week is the last session for us.
