Tropical World

What a lovely day at Tropical World today. The children have learned lots about how we classify animals and how some species have adapted. The talk at Tropical World was fascinating and we all learned so much from the incredible knowledge shared by the staff. Then, after a lovely lunch, we looked around Tropical World. It was wonderful to see such a wide variety of animals and the biomes they are found in. I was really impressed with how the children read the information boards and really wanted to learn more about the species they were looking at. Their participation in the workshop was also superb and we had wonderful compliments from the staff. A special shout out has to go to Cole, who took his role as the meerkat very seriously! Here are the first batch of photos, Mrs Keir has some that I will add on tomorrow. #LovePlover

Safer Internet Day

On Tuesday, we raised awareness of Internet safety, especially whilst playing online games. The children spoke honestly and respectfully, and gave very grown up answers. What impressed me most was the way they resolved to make a change to the way they played games online. #LovePlover

More grappling with grids in 5T!

This afternoon, we enjoyed grappling with a different type of grid. This time, we used sudoku grids! Lots of the children were really excited about these and definitely needed to grapple with them! #LovePlover

We are leading our own learning!

Well done to Elizabeth who has led her own learning at home and created this puzzle globe that links to our expedition. We have been learning about the continents and countries then focussing in on Venezuela.

Well done to Cole in 5T who stayed for a club and ended up completing home learning maths tasks with me – it was a pleasure to see your enthusiasm Cole when I know you have been worried about this subject before!

Digital leaders

Students in Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 have an amazing opportunity to become a Digital Leader within their class.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their own individual skills when it comes to the latest technology. Children who are successful will get the opportunity to visit XP East and potentially the Apple Store to have further training on how to use technology including iPads, MacBooks and some of the other great products that are used throughout school. Our Digital Leaders will then become the experts who can then pass on their knowledge to others.

Below is a link to the Digital Leaders website where you can find out further information.

Applications will need to be sent to Miss Lotysz by Thursday 3rd February explaining why you would make a fantastic Digital Leader. This can be done in a format of your choice including a letter, slides or even a video showcasing your IT skills.

We look forward to receiving your applications!

PE kits and water bottles ready!

Please could parents and children in year 5 make sure they have their PE kits in school on a Thursday please. Our time table has had a rejig and we have had to move the slots. Our kit is a white t shirt, black or navy shorts and indoor trainers [trainers which they are not going to be wearing on a daily basis as shoes to and from school].

Please could adults ensure their child has a water bottle in school so your child can have a drink. Due to health and safety we cannot provide cups. Any water bottle brought in from home needs to have water in, no juice or cordial as we are a healthy school please. Energy drinks are not acceptable.
