TGB: bonds to 100

Starter

Your starter today- I would like you to spend 10 minutes on TTrockstars. Let me know how you do.

Here is a timer for you to set so you know when ten minutes is over.

https://www.online-stopwatch.com/emoji-race-timer/?countdown=00:10:00&characters=4

If you need your login details for TT rockstars please contact [email protected] and she will get them to you as soon as she can.

Here is a video to help you with today’s learning.

Here are a few questions for you to have a go at yourself.

10 + 90 =

50 + 50 =

60 + ____ = 100

____ + 20 = 100

100 = 70 + _____

100 = 0 + ______

Here are a few questions for you to have a go at yourself.

Fill in the missing numbers, e.g. 7 + 3 = 10, 70 + 30 = 100.

6 + 2 = 8       60 + 20 =_____    2 + _____ = 8       20 + ______ = 80

5 + 1 =____  50 + 10 = _____   1 + _____ = 6       10 + ______ = 60

____ + 3 = 7      40 + 30 = _____  3 + ____ = 7      30 + ______= 70

If I know challenge- teacher example.

If I know 80 + 20 = 100, what else do I know.

E.g. I know

20 + 80 = 100,

100 = 20 + 80,

100 = 80 + 20,

100 – 80 = 20,

100 – 20 = 80

8 + 2 = 10

If I know challenge- you turn!

If I know 60 + 40 = 100, what else do I know?

Extra challenge

Here are items available in a shop.

Crisps- 40p

Can- 60p

Apple- 20p

Water- 40p

Carton drink- 50p

Pear- 30p

Banana- 10p

Lolly- 70p

Fred has 80p to spend from his pocket money. He buys two things from the shop. Which two things could he buy if he wanted to spend all of his money?

Find all of the possibilities, one has been done for you.

An apple is 20p and a can is 60p. 20p + 60p = 80p.

Here is a game to help further your learning.

Another new week

Good morning Year 3 and 4!

After a miserable, rainy week, what a lovely weekend we had! I hope you all had lots of fun whatever you got up to.

This week we are busy looking at William Shakespeare in English, multiplication and division in Maths, pronouns in Grammar and be creating our own Tudor portraits for our Expedition.  Busy busy!  We’ve got lots to be getting on with so make sure you log on to our online classrooms and let me know how you are feeling.

I hope you have a great day! Stay safe and take care!

Message for Year 1 and Year 2 parents

Have you got any photos of anything you have cooked or baked during lockdown? Perhaps a pizza, a cake or perhaps you’ve made your family some tea? Could you write a sentence to tell us about it? The deadline is fast approaching for your photos to be published in our Key Stage One book which will go in the Plover time capsule. We don’t want anyone to miss out!

Send your photo to [email protected]. When we receive your entry your name will be entered into a special prize draw! Starter- I’m thinking of a number

My number is ten more than 15. What is my number? 25

My number is ten more than 22. What is my number? 32

My number is ten less than 26. What is my number? 16

My number is ten less than 84. What is my number? 74

My number is ten less than 51. What is my number? 41

Here are some questions for you to have a go at.

E.g. If I know 5 + 4 = 9, then I know 50 + 40 = 90

If I know 3 + 5 = 8, then I know 30 + 50 = 80

If I know 2 + 4 = 6, then I know 20 + 40 = 60

If I know  2+ 7 = 9, then I know  20 + 70 = 90

If I know 1 + 3 = 4, then I know 10 + 30 = 40

Here are some questions for you to have a go at.

E.g. If I know 10 – 3 = 7, then I know 100 – 30 = 70.

If I know 5 – 2 = 3, then I know 50 – 20 = 30

If I know 9 – 5 = 4, then I know 90 – 50 = 40

If I know 6 – 1 = 5, then I know 60 – 10 = 50

If I know 4 – 3 = 1, then I know 40 – 30 = 10

Eva has 2 red pens and 3 blue pens. How many pens does she have altogether? 5

Tommy has 20 red pens and 30 blue pens. How many pens does he have altogether? 50

Challenge

Miss Lotysz starts writing a pattern.

1 + 9 = 10

2 + 8 = 10

3 + 7 = 10

4 + 6 = 10

5 + 5 = 10

6 + 4 = 10

7 + 3 = 10

8 + 2 = 10

9 + 1 = 10

Can you finish the pattern off for her?

What do you notice about this pattern?

All the answers equal 10. The first number counts forwards in 1 and the second number counts backwards.

Did you spot any other patterns?

Challenge

Miss Lotysz starts writing a pattern.

10 + 90 = 100

20 + 80 = 100

30 + 70 = 100

40 + 60 = 100

50 + 50 = 100

60 + 40 = 100

70 + 30 = 100

80 + 20 = 100

90 + 10 = 100

Can you finish the pattern off for her?

What do you notice about this pattern?

All the answers equal 100. The first number is counting forwards in 10 and the second number is counting backwards in 10.

Did you notice any other patterns?

Extra challenge

Miss Lotysz thinks if 3 + 1 = 4, then 30 + 10 = 400, because I have added two zeroes on, is she correct? Explain your answer.

She is incorrect because, she only needed to add 1 zero to make 30 + 10 = 40.

I wonder could you share your maths work with me. OR any other maths activities you have been working on during your time away from school. You never know, you might make an appearance on our blog!

Busy bee

I can see Keegan has been a busy bee during his time away from school and has clearly been learning new skills, well done Keegan. I think Mr Taylor might be asking for your help when we get back to school.
