3L Important Updates

We have had a fantastic start to the new school term and I must say I am excited for our learning this term. The children have worked hard to decorate our classroom for our new topic and have enjoyed the activities we have planned and organised for them.

A few updates for this term … PE will take place on a Friday afternoon. Please make sure we have full PE kits in school on Friday or why not bring it to school on a Monday and keep it on your peg. As this is the summer term please ensure that your child brings a water bottle and sun hat with them daily due to the changes in weather!

Pride of Plover

This week our ‘Pride of Plover’ goes to Tommy!

Tommy has worked hard this week in maths and in particular he has shown perseverance with our fractions work! Well done Tommy keep it up!

A big shout out and postcard goes to Oliver for working hard, getting smart in his learning and being kind to achieve those HOWL scores. Keep it up Oliver!

‘How to clean our teeth!’

Having spent the week learning about the different types of teeth and the parts of a tooth, our focus today was on how clean our teeth were.

We cleaned our teeth and then used a disclosing tablet to reveal any plaque remaining on our teeth. We had some very pink smiles and lots of giggles – but most importantly, we have learnt the importance of cleaning our teeth really well, for two minutes twice a day!

Pride of Plover

Pride of Plover this week goes to Sienna – Rae!

Sienna-Rae always puts 100% effort into everything she does and this week she has shared her thoughts and ideas to collaborate within group work. Well done Sienna-Rae!

Hook Week Activities

3L have had a fantastic hook week this week. We have completed many activities to decorate our classroom for our new topic and to end the week we have enjoyed our dress up day as scientists and health professionals.

What a Wonderful World

Before Easter we completed our expedition by recording our Plover version of the song ‘What a Wonderful World!’ We will be using this in the celebration of our Spring Expedition in May but we thought you would like a sneak peak. You can watch it on Youtube here:

We have also completed giant collaborative artwork for our final product, The Great Wave.

We decided to delay celebrating our expedition until all children had returned to school, to ensure that they could all contribute to the Final Product- I am so glad we did as the result is fantastic.

We are scientists in LKS2

We have had great fun in LKS2 during Hook Week and we can’t wait until our dress up as a scientist/medic day tomorrow.

As well as getting creative to immerse our classrooms for our new theme “How do we make Doncaster more Healthy?”, we have developed our inner scientist, learning about animals and humans.

We have researched and learnt how to classify animal species and played a giant game of Tag to learn about food chains

I have spoken to so many children who have been really excited about our new expedition and cannot wait to find out more.

I look forward to seeing what this expedition has in store!

Food chains and animal classification

We really enjoyed our activity today on food chains and animal classification. We played a game outside to help us to understand food chains and collaborated together to classify the animals. Well done 3L.

Happy Easter Holidays!

I just wanted to wish you all a very happy Easter.

The children have worked really hard this week writing their letters to Sir David Attenborough. We will be sending them off and hoping for a reply.

I shall be working on our recording of the Plover ‘What a Wonderful World’ song – I will share it on the blog as soon as it is done.

Well done to all of you that entered the decorate an Easter Egg competition – I am stunned at how creative and imaginative you are.

well done to Frank and Shashank for winning the Dunkin Donuts Reading Competition – don’t eat those don’t eat them all at once!

Thank you parents and guardians for your support this term, it has been challenging but hopefully next term will be returning more to normal.

Finally, enjoy the holidays and we look forward to welcoming you all back in two weeks when we will begin our new Expedition: ‘How do we make Doncaster healthy?’
