Awesome coaching in maths!

A huge well done to 6B this morning! The children worked so hard in maths practising their short division skills! The children pushed their learning even further by identifying mistakes with answers I gave them and then applying this skill to problem solving activities.

Get ahead of your learning!

6B you have impressed me so much with your resilience in maths the past few weeks. I am so pleased at the response to the challenge I set you last week so I have decided to set another.

Anyone who can bring me evidence that they have been practising their long division skills in preparation for next week can have one shop credit.

Please also see the quizzes I have set for you on frog learning. Have a fabulous weekend 6B, you deserve it!

Please bring in your plastic bottles!

Please can we ask that parents/carers save any plastic bottles you may have and pass them on to 5/6 teachers. After half-term, years 5&6 children will be going to Armthorpe baths to swim with plastic as part of our writing hook- from the perspective of a sea creature swimming in our seas (letters will be going out shortly).

We need as many bottles as possible to make it as realistic as we can.
Thanks in advance,
the 5 & 6 team 🙂

Fabulous feature hunting!

I am really proud of Blaze this morning. He has worked so hard in our feature hunting lesson. Blaze has been coaching his peers and asking them to give examples of the necessary features to allow his peers to prove they really understand what the features are. Such as: interesting sentence openers, subheadings, technical vocabulary and opening paragraphs.

Well done Blaze! £50 Class cash for you!

Marvellous maths work

Awesome maths work today 6B! The children have been working on long multiplication and applying the skill through:  variation, fluency, reasoning and problem solving. The children were fantastic and have shown great resilience! Well done everyone!

Crew celebrations!

A huge well done to the above children who were all given a shout out today in crew assembly.

The top five photos are our top spellers from each class achieving a: bronze, silver or gold award today.

The next photo is of those children who are the top readers in their classes; they have read the most to an adult at home and are in with a fantastic chance of having dinner at Nandos next half term.

The next photo is the children who were nominated by their crews for a crew shout out for following the Plover pledge and lastly the bottom photo is of those who have improved their arithmetic scores by the most.

Well done 5/6! Remember to: keep practising your spellings from the sheets you have been given. Our next test will be spellings 16-30 on your 3/4 sheets. Also, keep up the awesome work of reading to adults at home! It really will help your fluency in reading! Let’s see who are winners are next week!

Also a shout out to 5K for being the top attending phase; 6B you know what to do next week!

More awesome home learning!

A huge we’ll done to these super stars for producing some awesome home learning and to Danny for bringing in his medal to show us which he won at his martial arts competition!

Ruby and Jayden have produced some amazing Rain forest home learning and then Ruby has spent her weekend getting ready for the new week ahead as she has practiced her multiplication skills!

Well done to you all! £50 Class cash each!

Scientific enquiry

6B have had lots of fun this afternoon. We have been making predictions about the reasoning behind different leaf variations.. The children then looked at how they could have made the experiment even better and what a fair experiment looks like. We can’t wait to continue our learning tomorrow!
