Today we have been using our bodies as instruments to create pulse, beat and rhythm ready for our third case study. We had a blast finding the pulse to a different range of music. We also recapped key musical terms such as timbre and structure.

Unfortunately, we have to postpone our stargazing session this evening. The weather is very much against us and come the end of the school day, rain and storms have been forecast. We were hoping it would blow over and clear up but unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be the case.
We will keep in contact via the school blog and emails and hope to have this event rearranged towards the back end of next week.
Kind regards

Dear Parents,
We are so excited about our first Expedition trip as year 5 on Friday 24th September to HARRY POTTER STUDIO TOUR (LONDON)
We would just like to remind you of the following:
The coaches will leave school at 7.30am – please arrive at your classroom by 7am.
The coaches will return to school at approximately 7:30pm (we will keep you informed via text).
Please take into account the length of the day we will be out when packing lunches. Children will require extra food in their packed lunch – eg. Cereal bar in the morning, normal packed lunch and a snack/tea prior to leaving the studio plus at least 3 drinks. Pupils entitled to Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch from school but additional snacks will need to be provided from home.
Children need to wear their school jumper/cardigan and top, jogging bottoms / leggings and comfortable footwear.
Children MUST NOT bring a mobile phone on the visit but they are welcome to bring a camera (they will need to look after it themselves). They may also bring a book or something to do on the coach that isn’t electronic.
Finally, if your child suffers from travel sickness, please ensure that they take their tablet before arriving at school and then bring one in a named envelope for the return journey and givethis to their class teacher. Parents will also be required to sign for this at the office too.
Yours sincerely
Miss Blackham

Year 6 can help you with this question. Today we have been testing which brand of nappy holds the most liquid, after learning that astronauts wear a special type of nappy for long missions. Brands such as Pampers, improved their nappy based on NASA’s research. Asda’s brand was the best, holding 13 cups of water before it leaked.
Calling all year 5/6 children… do you want to be in with a chance to win a £25 voucher to spend at Intake fish and chips… to treat your family to a chippy tea? Well listen up! From Monday, you will each be given a reading record and every time you read to an adult at home and they sign it, you will get a ticket into the draw. The winner will be selected on Thursday 14th October!
If you are struggling to read at home, you can opt to read to me at break times and I can sign this for you.
Let’s get reading!

Today 6H have been scientists. We have examined a variety of nappy brands, looked at their properties and predicted which brand we thought would be the most absorbent. We could not believe quite how much liquid the nappies soaked up. One brand far outweighed the others in absorbency…I wonder if your child can tell you how they carried out their investigation and what their findings were.

Everyone is looking smart and settling in. We are busy preparing resources for our immersive classroom as well as learning about matters of state. We have had a busy afternoon experimenting with water colours.
Crew Haycock have been thinking about how often we read and the variety of ways in which we do this. They created reading rivers. Many children were surprised by what they read without even realising it – like road signs and packaging.

6H have been investigating the use of nappies in space travel. They were amazed to discover that NASA have developed special adult sized nappies so that their astronauts can go to the toilet whilst on spacewalks. Tomorrow we will be investigating which brand of nappy is the most absorbent.
