Silent discussions in Year 5 reading!
Wow! A huge shout out to Year 5 this morning were working hard this morning during their silent discussion. They were using models to support their reading comprehension answers and I was so impressed! Well done you lovely lot! 10 crew coins each!

Building background knowledge
Today we have been building our background knowledge about one of the planets of the solar system. We were able to find out lots of interesting facts which we will present in a formal report. I wonder if your child can tell you anything about the planet they researched?

Position counts!
Today we have realised the importance of placing digits strategically. We were competing to create the largest five-digit number we could – randomly generating our digits by rolling a dice. The frustration and tension caused whenever a digit lower than 5 was rolled created a great sense of friendly competition between everyone!

Place value lesson
Year 5 have been recapping on 4 digit numbers before we progress onto number up to 1,000,000. Well done Year 5 for engaging and working collaboratively.

Good morning, 5T. I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I am looking forward to seeing you for our English, Maths and Expedition sessions which begin today!

Is that your hoodie?? Please double check.
Could all parents please check their child has not picked up a hoodie that isn’t theirs by mistake please. A parent asked me to check to see if the missing hoodie was in school, which it wasn’t, however there are already new hoodies left in school with no names in! If your child has picked up the wrong one you will know as the child did have their name written in theirs. As you can imagine the parent was quite upset by this loss so early in the school term.
John-Henry the artist!
John-Henry has shown so much resilience in art this morning. He has created a stunning first draft of a planet from our solar system. He worked really hard on mastering the techniques with water colours and he accepted his critique ready to make draft two even better! I can’t wait to see it! 10 crew coins-well done!
