Competitive Crew Commando Joe Challenges

Year 3 had great fun on Friday afternoon when they had to work in crew teams to complete the challenges set for them. Communication was key; some of us were great at this, whilst others needed to learn share the air or to listen with more care. Once this was achieved, we were able to work much more effectively as crews and in doing so, we learnt a lot about each other too!

Well done, Year 3. Remember to continue communicating clearly and working to your strengths.

Anti-littering Activism in 3H

3H have spent time looking at a range of different anti-littering posters today. They critiqued the examples we gave them, pointing out the strong elements as well as areas which could be even better! Then designed their own. Some very thoughtful suggestions were made about why it is so important to make sure we ‘Bin it, don’t drop it!’

Well done guys. You were fab for Miss Wood this morning and worked so hard with me this afternoon too!

Also, I hope you enjoyed the time you spent with the graffiti artist…just look at your finished product! WOWEE! Please, please, please 3H, take your parents, carers and/or other adults who collect you from school around to see the wall you helped to paint. It really is a piece of art to be proud of and you’ll have your mark on the building forever! Imagine when you’re grown up and bringing your own kids to Plover…You could say, “I did that!”

Crazy colour fun in 3H!

Whilst getting to know each other today, 3H (mainly the adults) had their memories truly put to the test as we tried to remember everyone’s favourite colour. The children were amazing, the adults, well…a little more practice is definitely required!

Solving the problem of how to pass the ball without using your hands showed that you already know how to work together to overcome a problem! Check you out 3H! Let’s make this year an awesome one together!

Year 5 and 6 building crew

To build on our crew character traits, we undertook some team building and problem solving activities this afternoon as we got to know our phase crews better. Well done for working hard to solve the various tasks and challenges! We have more in store tomorrow!

Spreading kindness by making birthday cards for all!

Our HoWLs focus in our first week back is the ‘be kind’ strand. We have discussed lots of ways to show and spread kindness to our whole Plover crew. We started our first activity by creating birthday cards for all staff and our entire year group. When it is somebody’s birthday, they can take a card from the birthday box and feel special whilst reading all of the lovely messages written by our Year 6 crew.

We can’t wait to spread kindness throughout the year!

Starting back

This is just a reminder of some starting back dates for the new F2 children.

1 to 1 parent meetings with the new class teacher are on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th August. Your meeting time was on the letter that was sent home. If you are unsure of your time slot please email me on [email protected].

Half of the children are in for a full day on the Thursday and half on the Friday unless we have made different arrangements for your child.

All children will be in for full days from Monday 2nd September unless we have made different arrangements for your child.

Please bring wellies, waterproofs and pumps (all named) with you to the meeting as well as any medication that your child will need.

Many thanks

LKS2 Chocolatey Celebration of Learning

Thank you for doing us at our Celebration of Learning on Friday.

It is amazing to reflect on how much we have covered this term as we listen to the children talking about it and went through the exercise books.

I think the singing was the most beautiful performance we have ever had and the final product went down a treat!

Thank you to Mrs Williams (Julianna’s Mum) for taking the basket of goodies to the Care Home.

We can plan and carry out a fair test!

Over the last couple of weeks, Years 3 and 4 have been working as scientists and experimenting with states of matter: trying to find out if temperature affects the rate at which matter changes state. Our final task was to investigate the quickest way for Mr Wonka to create his chocolate river if all of the chocolate he has only exists in solid form.

Here we are, trying to think of different ways Mr Wonka could try to melt his chocolate…I wonder which location or method worked the best and melted the chocolate the quickest?

Now to consider our findings and draw conclusions for Mr Wonka!
