Today we have been painting and exploring colour mixing. We have painted paper plates to create our faces and will add the details tomorrow.

Today, the children started immersing themselves in the new expedition. As part of hook week, we worked with watercolours and poster paint to create a Great Fire of London-themed piece of class art work.
First, we discovered how to use watercolour brushes and choose the right colours for our painting. We then worked in teams to paint the different houses and flames using watercolours.
After this, we used poster paint and a splatter art technique to create a sky background filled with burning embers.
Once this was dry, we mounted the houses and flames to create an excellent piece of art!
1M have been busy today and have worked hard making saltdough birds, acorn bird feeders, bird hats/masks and painted different birdies! They then enjoyed some time on the ipads playing on the educational games. #LovePlover
It has been a wonderful day with all the children in Y1. So many smiles, happy children/teachers and brilliant working behaviours! We checked in, did crew challenges, practised our handwriting and have sewed love hearts for DRI!
See you all tomorrow Y1 Crew.

1LI had a great time making birds from salt dough, adding feathers and beaks using pegs.
We also enjoyed making bird collages.
Our bird feeders were amazing. We hope that you attract lots of birds with them near where you live.
This week, Year 2 have been artists. They have been exploring the work of Peter Thorpe, who specialises in space-themed artwork.
Today, some of Year 2 have used pastels to create their first piece of artwork inspired by Peter. They have been learning how to do key techniques such as blending.
We have used our design skills this week to design and make rockets. The children drew plans and then used the resources to make their rockets. The children were very enthusiastic to make their rockets and then use them in provision. They were so proud of their own learning.

1M worked hard this morning in expedition focusing on critiquing Peter Thorpes artwork and then critiquing their own. They produced some beautiful space artwork with shapes, lines, bright and dark colours. Mrs Bubb was well impressed! #LovePlover
