Year 6- Star gazing on Thursday night

Just a reminder that Year 6 stargazing is Thursday. We are asking for a contribution of Ā£1.50 to cover the bbq costs and we will be having hot chocolates and marshmallows! We are so excited to launch our new expedition in this exciting way! Please ask your childā€™s class teacher if you have any questions!
Children can be collected at 9:30pm

Did you know astronauts wear nappies?

Today, we have been ripping apart nappies to discover the technology that NASA developed in order to improve the absorbency of them. We were surprised to find out they contain a salt like substance. Tomorrow we will be investigating the brand of nappy that is the most absorbent.

Making pledges this morning in crew!

What a fabulous start we have had in crew Topliss this morning. We reflected on our HoWLs from last week and made fresh pledges for the week ahead. We then added them to our crew display board to help remind us what we need to do to make this week the best it can be! Well done Year 5!

Harry Potter dress up day Friday 3rd September- Year 5

Just a reminder that Year 5ā€™s Harry Potter dress up day is Friday 3rd September. Costumes can be as creative as you like. If you are struggling for ideas, black/grey trousers and a white shirt would be great and we will make Hogwarts ties in school. Or you can come in house colours: red, yellow, green or blue. Please donā€™t worry if you donā€™t have anything, we will dedicate the first part of the morning to making props so all children are included.

Ninja warrior crew trip!

Year 5&6 had lots of fun today at ninja warrior as part of their crew team building day! We had lots of children overcome fears and push themselves outside of their comfort zones! Please keep checking your childrenā€™s class blogs to see photos of their day!

Welcome back 6H!

We’ve had fun getting to know each other in 6H today by playing a variety of different icebreaker games. We have been able to maturely discuss the ‘Norms’ that we would expect to see from all members of the class and have set ourselves personal pledges that are challenging but achievable.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s Crew Day visit to Ninja Warrior in Sheffield. Just another little reminder that you will need to arrive at school in appropriate clothing: sports wear (preferably full length joggers/leggings which would protect your skin from possible friction burns). In addition, you will require a packed lunch and an extra water bottle would also be a good idea. If the online permission waiver has not yet been completed please do so as a matter of urgency. The link for this can be found on the upper KS2 phase blog – all pupils were shown how to find this in school today so should be able to help their parents/carers to find it.

Thank you for a great first day 6H…let’s rock this year together!
