Year 5 have been preparing for a debate this afternoon (as well as swimming – what a busy morning). Linked to our story, ‘Pig Heart Boy’, we are gathering reasons for and against using pig hearts to support human transplant operations! #LovePlover

We can infer!
Inferring information about our new key text, from the cover alone, proved really successful today. However analysing our key character (Hannah) was more difficult than we first expected: we had to debug our historical fiction text first as there were quite a few phrases and pieces of vocabulary which had not come across before.
Awesome focus and pace of learning this afternoon guys, well done!

Postcard winners 💙

Well done to this lovely bunch for winning postcards today. I’ve seen beautiful artwork, huge improvement in attendance, stunning manners and huge confidence when reading out loud in class. I am so proud of each and every one of them!

We are artists!
6H have been artists today. We have been hooked further into our new expedition and have learnt about plague doctors and why they wore the grotesque outfits that we associate with them.
Our gallery walk produced some effective critique that was carefully thought about and responded to in order to produce some amazing final images. See, practice does make perfect, guys! 😉

We can make careful observations!
Hopefully you will have seen Miss Blackham’s blog of our expedition launch on Friday. If not, maybe your child has told you about it? I know Lola couldn’t wait to tell her mum what we had been up to! 😂
Still not sure what I mean? On Friday, Y6 set forth on their new expedition: Why is it important to look after ourselves and each other? They learnt about the worst symptom of the Black Death: buboes!
See Miss Blackham’s post for the pics of our oozing buboes made from jam and custard donuts! Blurgh yet yum!

Yellow T-Shirt Winner
This week’s yellow T-Shirt winner in 6H is Ellie. Both Mrs Thomson and myself noticed her focus, maturity and use of incredible manners throughout every SATs paper she sat. Considering that concentration can sometimes being challenging for Ellie, we were both blown away by the attitude she displayed in a stressful situation.
Well done Ellie.
Keep making great choices!

We are SATs survivors!
Well done to all of our Y6 pupils who showed great resilience last week whilst sitting their SATs exams.
Thank you to KS1 who gave us moral support throughout with positive blogs and inspirational posters to keep our children going.
Thank you to EVERYONE in school for creeping around like mice all week so as there were no distractions.
