Compassion in 4B

On the third day of Crew Week, the class completed some activities to demonstrate the character trait: compassion. We took part in the colour run to raise funds for the school as well as our charity the RSPCA. We also completed a kindness chain to display the kind acts we have done some far this year which we will hopefully add to as the year progresses. Finally, we decorated our own baby egg which we had to show compassion and care for to make sure it didn’t crack.

Well done 4B, we have shown what a kind and compassionate class we can be!

Craftsmanship and Quality in 4B

On the second day of Crew Week, 4B were learning all about the character trait “Craftsmanship and quality”. We used demonstrated this by creating and critiquing drafts of a poster about our school charity the RSPCA. After several attempts, we produced some beautiful work which we are proud to display in the classroom.

LKS2 celebration of learning

LKS2 celebration of learning event is tomorrow at 2pm. The children have worked incredibly hard to perform some of their poetry, songs and showcase their beautiful art work.

After the performance, children’s individual pouring canvases will be sold in the spare classroom at a minimum donation of £2. Children’s artwork will also be displayed in their classrooms as a gallery where an order can be placed for a minimum donation of 50p.

Proceeds from the sales will go towards the Disasters Emergence Committee charity as well as school funds to support your child’s further expeditions.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Yaya came to visit

Thank you to Mekaal’s mummy for bringing her baby to visit us today. We have started our new expedition “See how things grow.” We started off today learning about what babies need and how they grow. Baby Yaya has milk but he doesn’t have food. He needs lots of cuddles and people to love him. Ask the children what they have learnt. They were very good at thinking of ideas.

First day back in 3B

Happy New Year! 3B have had an amazing start to first week back.

Shoutout to those children who made a special effort to dress up as a robot for the occasion. We spent the morning in our crews completing some activities to hook the children into the learning for our new expedition this term. These activities included investigating the internal organs, skeleton and muscles using AI and interactive games; classifying robots; making electronic circuits and cutting and sticking robots and skeletons.

Children were given a word at the end of each workshop to workout our new guiding question: The power of life: What makes us human?

As reward for solving the puzzle and in preparation for Friday’s learning, we spent the afternoon watching the film Robots.

The children are all hooked in and excited to learn more.

Are we human or are we robots?

Years 3 and 4 had an exciting hook day today for their new expedition. Many dressed up as robots and the effort from those who made their own costumes was exceptional! Well done and thank you parents who I’m sure would have lent a helping hand with these!
