We Are Artists
F1 have been working hard to draw pictures of themselves. We worked hard on remembering to draw bodies and add detail to our drawings, using shapes to build up our pictures.
Some children also worked extra hard, trying to write their names on their pictures.

Cake Collage
We created a cute CAKE collage just like the story ‘Cake’ we have been reading during hook week for our expedition – Marvellous Me! #LovePlover

CAKE
In our Expedition learning, we have been reading a book, called, ‘CAKE’. We worked together to paint and collage Cake. We used our finger muscles to pinch the glitter and sprinkle it onto the glue. We are so pleased with our collaboration! It looks great on our Expedition display!
CAKE

Gorgeous collages
Year 5 have been getting creative in art, inspired by the brilliant artist Clare Youngs. Clare makes colourful animal collages using lots of different shapes, patterns and textures – and we decided to have a go ourselves!
Our theme was rainforest animals. We created creatures like butterflies, jaguars, toucans, birds and monkeys. First, we drafted our ideas and sketched out how our animals might look. Then came the really exciting part – working with a partner to create a final collage together. It was great fun to share ideas, combine our designs and see how two brains could come together to make one amazing piece of artwork.
The finished collages are bright, bold and full of rainforest life. They look incredible on display and really show off our teamwork as well as our creativity.
We’re so proud of what we’ve made – Clare Youngs would be too!

The Great Kapok Tree
This week, Year 5 have been diving into The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. The story, set in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, sparked some fantastic discussions about nature, conservation, and the importance of every creature in an ecosystem.
Inspired by the book, the children created their very own kapok trees. They worked carefully to bring the rainforest to life through their artwork, using bright colours and imaginative detail to make their trees unique and vibrant.
The children showed their character trait of quality and craftsmanship throughout the project. Each piece was produced with real care, attention, and creativity – and the results were stunning!
Well done, Year 5 – your kapok trees are a true celebration of both art and storytelling.

Craftsmanship and Quality
Today, 5S looked at ‘The Dot’ to help introduce the character trait of ‘craftsmanship and quality’ – it helped us to learn about the importance of always giving the best effort that is appropriate to our ability, and working hard to produce work that is more beautiful every day.
We also developed our art skills by looking at complementary and contrasting colours to create our very own masterpiece ‘dot’.
Painting Fun
Some of the children chose to do some lovely paintings in provision yesterday afternoon, painting themselves, spider man, red vans, flowers and princesses! #LovePlover
