Mel Hewitt from XP visited us today to show year 5 how to draw trains and teach them about perspective and the vanishing point. The children enjoyed seeing her amazing drawings and made a great start on having a go at their own drawings.

UKS2 have been working so hard all term to finish their sustainable greenhouse and planters to grow produce for our Plover pantry. They have planned, designed, evaluated and critiqued to ensure the final product was the best it could be! Next week, we will plant the first of our produce and we can’t wait to observe and watch it grow! We also want to use some of our home-grown goods as part of our summer Expedition- all about healthy eating! Come back to check out our blogs next week to see us planting!

Today we made paper plate hedgehogs! We used a fork and paint to create the spikes, then added a nose and eye. We also had scissor practise by making snips in the top of the plate to create a spikes affect. We discussed how hedgehogs are nocturnal and hibernate inside their spikes for protection.

We have been learning about why people wear poppies on Remembrance Day and the reason behind the two minutes silence. We printed our own poppies using a paint and a sponge and then put glitter on, to remember the soldiers.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our family learning event. I am so impressed with the sewing skills everyone demonstrated this afternoon. The beautiful felt animals will be given out to children this Christmas at our local hospice. We will share further details of when our animals will be donated in due course.
Thank you again!

Yesterday, the children in 2L worked on the Buzeman Art inspired poppy artwork. They used pastels to create the mood in the background, before using acrylic paint with different pulling and pointillism techniques to create the poppy fields. We are so proud of their creativity.
In 1LI today, we have been working hard to create beautiful poppy artwork. We have used techniques that all the teachers were recently taught, by Joyce from Buzeman Art, to recreate poppies using different art techniques. We used pastels to create a background representing the changing colours of the battlefields. We then used string and acrylic paint to recreate the poppy stems, before using pointillism to create the poppies.
Mrs Ogle was so impressed she awarded the whole class Headteacher’s award stickers!
