Fantastic craftsmanship and quality!

I am so proud of 6B who have worked so hard on the draft and re-draft process in their recent final write. The children have shown great examples of craftsmanship and quality when writing instructions on how to make a bird box.

Developing our sketching skills

Last week, Year 5 worked on their sketching skills to produce appeal posters for the RSPCA Doncaster branch. It was great to see you taking onboard the techniques of shading, stippling, and cross-hatching to improve the depth of your work.

A special shout-out to all the children who said “I can’t draw!” then demonstrated great courage to persevere and produce clear evidence of their abilities developing.

Courage in Year 5

Last week, our Year 5 children showed incredible courage as they took on a special mini-project all about the RSPCA. From the very beginning, they threw themselves into learning about animal welfare and the important work the charity does – approaching each task with enthusiasm, bravery, and curiosity.

As part of the project, the children explored real-life skills such as budgeting, percentages, and planning for fundraising or awareness campaigns. These topics can be challenging, but Year 5 tackled them head-on, showing confidence and determination as they worked through problems and made thoughtful decisions.

One of the highlights of the week was the creation of their beautiful leaflets promoting the Five Welfare Needs of Animals. Each leaflet was a fantastic blend of creativity and compassion, demonstrating not only their understanding of animal care but also their commitment to raising awareness in the wider school community.

We are incredibly proud of Year 5 – not just for the quality of their work, but for the courage they showed in trying new things, asking questions, and thinking deeply about how to help animals in need.

Well done, Year 5! Keep being brave, thoughtful, and brilliant.
