Reminder – KS1 Celebration of Learning

Good evening.

A gentle reminder to save the date.

KS1 celebration of learning will start at 2pm on Tuesday 2nd July. The children will be sharing their learning from their current expedition and teaching adults some of the British Sign Language they have been learning.

The celebration will take place in the children’s classrooms. Please enter and sign in through the gates on Queensberry Road.

Any questions, please speak to the KS1 team.

We are Artists – Second draft

Today we had a go at our second draft of our Artwork. The children really worked hard to do their line drawing without using the squared paper to help. We will continue these later on in the week before adding our shading techniques that we have been learning. Well done everyone!

We are Artists

Today we started our artwork using our line drawing skills. We are going to create a final drawing of the Deaf School. Today was our first attempt and we will critique and improve them in our next session.

What do you think so far?

KS1 Pride of Plover Winners

Congratulations to this week’s Pride of Plover superstars!

Oliver has impressed his teachers with his brilliant reading. Zuzanna has grown so much in confidence and been an expert BSL coach for other children! Jacob, Gracie-Lee and Lerin have fitted straight into our Plover Crews, who epitomise the Plover Pledge! #LovePlover

Wonderful writers!

Well done to Raegan and Lucas who produced wonderful plans about local hero, Douglas Bader. Both boys tried so hard to not only do their neatest handwriting but also remember all the key information we had learnt. Well done boys, I can’t wait to see your final fact files!

A signed recount!

This morning we have started our brand new unit of writing – writing a recount! As part of our new unit we discussed what a recount is and what some of the features are. We then used our experts (Thank you Miss Henderson and Mr Anderson) to learn some of the signs to help us orally retell our model text.

Deaf School Visit

Year 2 were kindly invited to the Deaf School to support us with our learning for our Expedition. We were introduced to some of the children at the school and then we had to use their signing names to see if we could work out something about their personality. We did really well! Then we used some of the signs we had already learnt in school, along with some new ones, to play colour bingo. We had to focus hard because there weren’t any audio prompts. We had to watch and pay attention! Our last activity was learning to finger spell simple words and then to use the sign for that object. We have just started learning this in school so it was brilliant to get a chance to practice it!

We all had a brilliant time and learnt a lot. We all said thank you to the Deaf School for hosting us.

Come to Doncaster!

Today 2L has been learning about the features of posters. We looked at different examples of posters to help us understand what features they included to make them good. We decided that posters needed to be colourful, eye-catching, clear and bossy. Once we had finished, we critiqued each other’s posters and checked they had included all the features.
