Well done to Ellie who could be a football star of the future! She was spotted outside of school playing for her club by our very our Mrs Robertson (who was watching her own son play on the opposing team to Ellieās). Mrs Roberston was so impressed with the speed and skill of a player on the pitch when she suddenly realised it was Ellie! Well done Ellie, you really are super-talented and shone brightly on the pitch. A firecracker!
3H have had a fabulous week. From feelings, to fractions to fossilisation, weāve worked hard to build our background knowledge! We have even weathered rocks, making sediment that we placed into layers and compressed to make sedimentary rock. Then we ate it! Itās a good job we used Fruitella to represent the rocks that we weathered!
Keep working hard folks; Iām so proud of you all this week!
Year 3 and 4 children have impressed me with their phonics skills today. Well done Matthew, Olivia, Conor and Toni for achieving your certificates today.
If you were unable to attend the parent information session about the year 4 Multiplication Tables check, here is some information that was shared at the meeting.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask your class teacher.
We are looking forward to our field trip to Magna today.
Please arrive in school promptly at the normal time of 8:45, we will be setting off at 9am.
Please wear sensible, comfortable shoes or trainers , as there will be quite a lot of walking and going up and down stairs.
Please bring a coat as it can be very cold inside the old building, even when it warm outside. There is also a chance you might get a little bit wet in the water zone.
Please remember your packed lunch and a drink. Lunches will be safely stored and will not have to be carried around.
We have launched our Sports for Challenge fundraising campaign this week, to promote physical activity and exercise, healthy active lifestyles and working hard to become a champion!
Children from F2-Y6 have all been given a fundraising form, the challenge is for children to raise as little or large of an amount over the next 5 weeks! Then if we meet our fundraising target, all the children will enjoy meeting and exercising with a World Class Athlete after half term! The benefit of the fundraising will allow the school to purchase some fantastic sports equipment throughout school!
Forms and money to be brought in w/c 22nd May. Prizes will be given to the child in every year group who raises the most money!
3H have had a great Hook Week. Monday’s ‘Survival Day’ was fun, challenging and exhausting! Using team work, pupils faced and overcame a range of challenges that meant that they had to consider situations and think outside of the box when following instructions. Everyone enjoyed the day…
FIERCE!
The last two days have been very busy too…writing shape poetry and creating a giant jigsaw-like image of a piece artwork by Katsushika Hokusai. Check back tomorrow to see our final pieces. We have definitely worked hard!
Last week, Plover School was unfortunate enough to be hit by freak weather conditions. A localised tornado, earthquake and volcanic eruption occurred on the school playground, just outside the Year 3 and 4 classrooms. Fortunately, Ms Trindall and Mr Taylor were quickly on site and able to clear up the mess. Sadly, there was no time to clear the classrooms, so year 3 and 4 children were greeted with a bit of a unusual situation when they arrived in school this morning!
In view of the strange events, the LKS2 staff team, felt it necessary to prepare the children in case a similar situation reoccured.
As a result, LKS2 children spent the day completing various challenges to see if they could SURVIVE!
It was a great way of getting hooked into our Summer term expedition: “Earth Shattering Events; what happens when nature strikes” and we can’t wait to find out where our learning will take us.
