Instructions ✍️ 🐝

Today we introduced our class stimulus text: Omar, The Bees and Me! It is a wonderful stories about two friends who are on a mission to help the bees. We talked about what we had created for our eco garden and what we had done to help the bees. We then thought it would be a lovely idea to share with more people on how they could make Bee Hotels too! We introduced our new model text and we were very lucky today, as Mrs. Swann taught us the BSL signs to accompany it! Thank you Mrs. Swann for your help! 🐝

The haka

3F performed an extremely intimidating haka this morning! We used our body language, facial expressions and loud noises to scare our audience.

We are writers

This week, we are writing a persuasive piece of text to encourage people to save the polar bears. Will you help us save these beautiful, majestic creatures? Turn off lights, unplug unused devises, recycle and walk where possible.

Following Instructions

This week the children in Year 2 have begun their new unit on instructions. Today they have been busy following instructions to create something special ready for this weekend. They worked in pairs and small groups to help each other succeed. I’m sure when the children bring their special project home, you’ll see how hard they have worked!

Sorry, there are no sneak previews, you’ll have to wait and see!

Instructions: Bee Hotel 🐝

As part of our new writing unit, we are learning to write instructions. Today, we practiced following some instructions on how to make a bee hotel. First we collected some sticks to create the middle section. Then we made our bed hotels in mini crews before heading outside to put them in our eco-garden.

Run, run as fast as you can!

During outdoor play, the children read clues to find the Gingerbread Man. They used their phonics skills to sound out words. They read the clues and were successful in finding the Gingerbread Man. He will be hiding again tomorrow and there will be more clues to find!

We are investigating magnets

We have had great fun investigating magnets and finding polar north by hanging a magnet from a piece of string. The initial speed of the magnet spinning in both directions convinced the children that it was just ‘going cray-cray’ (their words NOT mine) and not actually working. They were amazed when it finally settled, pointing in the direction we had previously confirmed as being north with a compass!

Ellis took his learning a step further and investigated how closely he could push two magnets together before the magnetic force took over! Well done Ellis, extra special scientist shout out for you young man!

Well done everyone!

Crew Farrow

Today, we discussed what Crew means to us and why it is important. In Crew Farrow we value the importance of sharing our feelings and looking after each other.

Pride Of Plover

Well done to Elaf who got our yellow T-shirt this week. It’s lovely to see how much your confidence has developed and how you are now joining in with phonics, saying your sounds clearly daily.

3SG Investigating Magnetism

Today, 3SG have been investigating the poles of magnets and how they can attract or repel one another.

We also had a special expert visitor, Paul from Year 5. He is very interested in science and helped me teach the lesson – well done to everyone for working hard for me and our guest!
