Full and Empty in Maths!

Over the last week, 1C have been learning all about volume and capacity in maths. This lesson focussed on the different language we use to describe the capacity of containers. We used words such as full, empty, nearly full and nearly empty. We had a go a making these different measurements, working hard with our shoulder partner and discussing what the measurements should look like!

We thought really hard about capacity and whether the size of container made a difference to how much water they could hold. This lesson was lots of fun and we only got a little bit wet! Look how kind and careful we are as we work with our shoulder partners!

Dress up day and film night

As part of our next expedition (that starts after the easter half term), we are hosting a dress up day on the first Monday back. As well as this, we are running a film night on the Thursday of the first week back. All details are on the poster. If you have any questions, please ask class teachers.

Our Plants Are Shooting!

When we arrived at school today, after the weekend, we noticed our plants had began shooting! We noticed that the roots of our sunflower seeds, were growing down through the bottom of the pot and the stem was growing up. We cannot wait to watch the stem grow even bigger and eventually flower. Our cress has also started growing in our egg shells, creating hair for our egg heads.

Celebration Of Learning

As part of our final product, our children did lots of fundraising to raise money for reading for pleasure books. At our celebration of learning, our children presented books boxes to Doncaster Children’s Ward, CAST theatre, Kiddiewinks, Sandringham Road Doctors Practice and Intake Wellbeing Centre. The children also received a book each and a gingerbread man, they baked and decorated themselves. We sang some songs for our parents/visitors and shared our learning journey.
