Covering at athletics club.

Athletics club at school had a surpise tonight – it was me instead of Mr Whitfield! It was a pleasure to work the Year 5 children that were in there. The children warmed up with a few sprints that we then turned into a small race then we went onto the foam javelins. Everyone had a marker and after a few tries and critique to improve we saw who could throw it the greatest distance.

It was great to see the children being competitive but also being good sports and supporting each other.

Going swimmingly!

All the children are now in the routine of the swimming lessons. They are remembering to put their clothes in lockers and remember which locker they have used! There are two groups – one group who are confident swimmers and a group who are learning the skills needed. We ended today’s session with a game of silent water polo. I don’t know who was more surprised they could do this quietly – me or the children! The enjoyment from the children is great to see and thanks to all the parents for remembering their child’s kit as well as a warm coat to wear afterwards.

Drawing our animals

5K have been drawing our animals ready for the calendar we will eventually produce. The hedgehogs have had one draft and we will critiquing them to help our friends improve. Rhinos are our next big project!

Busy,busy,busy!

Another busy Monday. We have been learning about 6 digit numbers and becoming more confident in partitioning them.

We have started to draw our endangered animals in our theme lessons. Our first animal is a hedgehog.

Grand day out

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park  was awesome yesterday! The sun was shining and all the children were excited to be out of school. We had a great workshop looking at the items that were seized.

Maths challenges!

5K are busy mastering 5 digit numbers such as 72,519! We are looking at rounding them to the nearest 100,1000 and 10,000. The children have risen well to the challenge and have been busy explaining why the numbers would round up or down and why. Well done 5K and keep going.

We are crew!

This afternoon, years 5&6 children had their first crew assembly ahead of their team building trip to Austerfield tomorrow. The children learnt all about Crew and what it means to be a crew.

I can already tell this year is going to be amazing!

Keep a look out tomorrow on 5&6 class blog’s to find out about their progress at Austerfield! #Wearecrew!

Going on a trip tomorrow!

We are all excited to be off on our travels tomorrow. Within our class we have noticed we have more focus compared to the start of the week and we have been very creative. Look at our windows!

We wonder can we be quicker to react when asked to be quiet?
