Years 5&6 had so much fun this afternoon! They participated in a quiz on their learning so far. Then, they worked with their friends to make a planter out of a plastic bottle to make a pretty area outside on our playground. Finally, the children created posters to encourage others to save our planet.
The children worked so hard and there were lots of happy, smiling children!
Well done 5/6! Thank you to all parents/cadets who came today, we hope you enjoyed it as much as the children!

One last final beg from the pupils of 6H to their parents:
Please can we have your plastic? This could be in the form of milk, pop or water bottles – or even just the bottle caps themselves.
This weeks’ top spellers were:
Luca Nguyen, Cailey Nisar, Aisha Olaobaju and Grace Walsh.
Well done guys!
6H have had great fun preparing board games to help them learn about the life cycle of sea turtles. Hopefully they will be finished tomorrow and then the real fun can begin.
Reminder: We need your plastic waste!
A massive shout out to two pupils today who have blown our minds. Savannah Ross and Kyren Milner have had a great day. In addition to having fab days, they kindly decided to help out the dinner staff by offering to clean the tables and floors for them. This is something the two children decided to do themselves without prompt from anyone else and I could not be more proud of them. Well done the pair of you.
Please can we ask that parents/carers save any plastic bottles you may have and pass them on to 5/6 teachers. After half-term, years 5&6 children will be going to Armthorpe baths to swim with plastic as part of our writing hook- from the perspective of a sea creature swimming in our seas (letters will be going out shortly).
6H have had great fun suggesting their new crew name. After a wide selection had been mentioned, they have voted democratically to select the final choice. We are officially The Olds Cool Crew – what a play on words!

Years 5&6 would like to invite parents/carers to our family learning event on Friday 11th October at 1:30pm. More details will be announced on our blog on Thursday so please keep an eye out for that.
If you have any questions regarding family learning, please see your child’s class teacher.

A huge well done to the above children who were all given a shout out today in crew assembly.
The top five photos are our top spellers from each class achieving a: bronze, silver or gold award today.
The next photo is of those children who are the top readers in their classes; they have read the most to an adult at home and are in with a fantastic chance of having dinner at Nandos next half term.
The next photo is the children who were nominated by their crews for a crew shout out for following the Plover pledge and lastly the bottom photo is of those who have improved their arithmetic scores by the most.
Well done 5/6! Remember to: keep practising your spellings from the sheets you have been given. Our next test will be spellings 16-30 on your 3/4 sheets. Also, keep up the awesome work of reading to adults at home! It really will help your fluency in reading! Let’s see who are winners are next week!
Also a shout out to 5K for being the top attending phase; 6B you know what to do next week!
A plea from your children…
Can you please collect any plastic bottles – milk or pop – along with their bottle tops. However, please wash them out first. We are planning on using them to produce some art work and structures such as green houses or igloos for our school site.
Many thanks Mrs H
Today, 6H did their first spelling test of the year which will take place every Monday afternoon. Well done to all pupils who achieved Mrs Haycock’s bronze, silver or gold award. Please ensure your child practices their spellings frequently at home so as to ensure they are as successful as possible.
