Lily-Grace has been really interested in our Roman topic and how they changed Doncaster. Whilst out driving as a family they drove over the River Don and Lily-Grace was talking about our learning in school. She explained to her family about how the Romans used the River Don and spoke about the Roman wall near St George’s church in town. On their way back home Lily-Grace stopped off in town and they went to find the remains of the Roman wall and found the information board with the fort on that we have looked at in class.

Amazing independent learning! #loveplover

Calling budding pop stars!!

Year 3 and 4 are working hard to get ready for their performance of ‘The Rocking Romans’ which will be on our website all about the Romans. To help children prepare for this, you might like to practice the songs at home (lots of the children have been asking).

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/music-drama-dance-history-ks2-rocking-romans-musical-play-index/zm84cqt

Please find a link above to the songs. We will be singing songs 1, 2, 3 and 8 from the list on the web page.

Happy singing!

Christmas Cards

Hello Year 3 and 4 adults!

The time is nearly upon us to start thinking about Christmas in school. Many children and adults ask us about cards. Due to the current situation, we have thought about how best to go about the giving and receiving of cards in school this year.

This year, please only send cards to children in your year group bubble (eg 3S and 3T or 4G and 4L).

From December 1st, children can bring cards and place them in the year group post box. This will be in their classroom. Cards can be dropped in any day up until 11th December.

On 11th December, the post box will close and no further cards can come into school. This will mean all cards will enter a period of quarantine. On Tuesday 15th December, all cards will be given out.

Please ask a member of the 3/4 team if you have any further questions.

Thank you for your support in helping to enjoy the joy of giving and receiving cards, whilst keeping everyone safe.

Last day of school!

Good morning Key Stage One 🙂 I cannot believe this is the last day of school! And what an odd last day of school it is.

On behalf of myself, Miss Lister and Miss Topliss I just want to say a MASSIVE well done for all your hard work over these strange times. As a Key Stage One Crew we have kept each other going and we are all so proud of you.

Please continue to stay safe and have a fantastic summer, you truly deserve it!

2P New Teacher Meet

Good morning current Year 1’s!

I hope you are all doing ok.
As you know, transition in school has been unable to happen in the way we would have liked this year. As a result, I know that you might be feeling a little more anxious about moving into Year 2 than usual. To try and help with this, I have arranged a short, online Google meeting that you are welcome to attend just so that you can have a chance to see me and put a face to a name (there will be a chance for your Parents and Carers to meet me properly during the first week back).
I will be offering 2 chances to meet me this morning. There is no need for you to be in both meetings so please only plan for one of the times! I have included the meeting code below. The times are either 9.30am or 11.30am.This is not meant to be scary in any way. If you simply say hello and maybe one thing you like or might be looking forward to, then this is all that is needed.
I hope this is useful to you and look forward to seeing you later this morning. If you are not able to attend, or don’t wish to, then enjoy your summer break and I look forward to meeting you in September.
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who was able to join me this morning. It was lovely to see some new faces and begin to learn some names. I also want to thank those who have emailed me a piece of writing to say hello. I really enjoyed reading them. I have now removed the link from above as there are no more meetings planned. Have a fabulous summer and I will see you all in September.

Thursday 16th July English learning

Good morning, here is your English learning for today.

I would like you to create your own little year book. You can either draw your year book or write in your book, it is completely up to you.

These are things I would like you to have a think about:

  • Who your friends are.
  • Any school trips you enjoyed this year. Which was your favourite?
  • A funny moment this year. What really made you laugh?
  • Achievements. What are you most proud of?
  • Your favourite thing about school.
  • Your favourite expedition this year.
  • What will you miss the most?

You can share your year books with [email protected] for me to have  a look at, I look forward to seeing what you have enjoyed about school this year.
