For todays expedition we have looked at different sources to find information about life in Roman Doncaster. We then compared differences and similarities between Roman Doncaster and modern Doncaster.

3GS worked really hard at the start of the week, researching aspects of Roman life. They had to use different sources to find out more about Roman roads, houses, clothing and towns.
After they completed the research, they produced posters and presented their findings to the rest of the class, so everyone could learn what they had learnt.

This afternoon we were talking about racism, as part of our Rosa Parks case study. We discussed that everyone has similarities and differences – but we are all beautiful humans!
We recognised that racism is being unkind to people because of their skin colour, accent, religion – which is not okay!
Then we looked at some different case studies and talked about if they had thought it was racist or not.
So proud of our Current year 6ās (and 7ās!) who engaged in the mining Expediton last year. They worked so hard and showed great activism by raising money for Markham main mining memorial. Please do take a look at their learning journey!!

Today, in English and history we have learnt about the life of Rosa Parks and how she became a hero in her community. The children loved asking questions to AI Rosa Parks. #LovePlover

There are times when I wish I had recorded a lesson. Today was definitely one of those times. Iāve never seen so many over dramatic children posing as Roman soldiers in a variety of situations. When they ācame to lifeā as I touched their heads, some of their comments were absolutely priceless:
āAre we nearly there yet?ā āOutta the way Iām gonna be sick!ā āHold on for your life, thereās another wave coming!ā
āHow cold is this water?!ā āNo one said about this before we set off.ā āSoā¦coldā¦soā¦farā¦ā
āWhere on Earth am I?ā āWhat is that supposed to be?ā āWhy is it so wet and so cold?ā
āClaudius ordered us to build a settlement but Iām too tired. I must sleep!ā āSleep now, build later.ā
āOof, urgh, hmpf!ā āI donāt know how many more bricks I can pass you!ā āHow heavy!ā āOW!ā
āLetās be āavin yaaaaaaaa!ā āCELTS COMING!ā āWho are ya?ā āAttack!ā āIncoming!ā
I honestly donāt know where they get it from! Well done 4H now to transfer those actions and words into writing! Youāve got this, folks!

After completing our first challenge of the lesson: āAm I Roman or Celtic?ā, we checked in with someone else from another table and chatted through our answers together. Some of us felt a little strange: suddenly getting up and moving elsewhere in the room but the movement improved the quality of the conversation between everyone and their was more of a ābuzzā about the learning. Well done guys – I know it feels strange talking to someone different but you were all incredible! AGAIN!

As historians, we were gathering factsā¦we had to use the information we were given to find out how Rome grew from a normal city into an almighty empire! I wonder if your children can tell you more about why and how the Romans became such a powerful force?

Today, 4B have been role playing as a Roman legionary invading Britannia. Well done to everyone for participating and sharing some great ideas. This will help lots with generating ideas for our final write this week.
