Today for expedition, 4B have been researching about aspects of Roman life to produce a poster which they will be presenting to the class tomorrow. Well done everyone for working so hard and I can’t wait to see your presentations.
There are times when I wish I had recorded a lesson. Today was definitely one of those times. I’ve never seen so many over dramatic children posing as Roman soldiers in a variety of situations. When they ‘came to life’ as I touched their heads, some of their comments were absolutely priceless:
“Are we nearly there yet?” “Outta the way I’m gonna be sick!” “Hold on for your life, there’s another wave coming!”
“How cold is this water?!” “No one said about this before we set off.” “So…cold…so…far…”
“Where on Earth am I?” “What is that supposed to be?” “Why is it so wet and so cold?”
“Claudius ordered us to build a settlement but I’m too tired. I must sleep!” “Sleep now, build later.”
“Oof, urgh, hmpf!” “I don’t know how many more bricks I can pass you!” “How heavy!” “OW!”
“Let’s be ‘avin yaaaaaaaa!” “CELTS COMING!” “Who are ya?” “Attack!” “Incoming!”
I honestly don’t know where they get it from! Well done 4H now to transfer those actions and words into writing! You’ve got this, folks!
After completing our first challenge of the lesson: ‘Am I Roman or Celtic?’, we checked in with someone else from another table and chatted through our answers together. Some of us felt a little strange: suddenly getting up and moving elsewhere in the room but the movement improved the quality of the conversation between everyone and their was more of a ‘buzz’ about the learning. Well done guys – I know it feels strange talking to someone different but you were all incredible! AGAIN!
As historians, we were gathering facts…we had to use the information we were given to find out how Rome grew from a normal city into an almighty empire! I wonder if your children can tell you more about why and how the Romans became such a powerful force?
Today, 4B have been role playing as a Roman legionary invading Britannia. Well done to everyone for participating and sharing some great ideas. This will help lots with generating ideas for our final write this week.
1M looked at how the architect Christopher Wren designed the streets of London after the Fire of London. We designed a modern and safer London with some fantastic building ideas. #LovePlover
Continuing our expedition knowledge about The Great Fire of London, the children loved the competitive quiz we did in our history lesson, using Samuel Pepys diaries to find the answers.
Well done to Oliver, Peyton and Alex who were our medalists 10crew coins! #LovePlover
There has been some amazing home learning handed in already for our new expedition. We do love seeing the amazing things that you are getting up to at home! Well done to everyone and please keep them coming!
4B have been researching all about the Romans in todays expedition lesson. They have created some impressive posters to show their learning. Well done!
