Well done to Y3/4 for winning the XP Trust dodgeball tournament last Friday. You represented the school beautifully and showed great sportsmanship.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. What a lovely way to start December today has been… children greeted by Santa’s little helpers (teachers), a pantomime and the Plover Elves have decorated school. #LovePlover
We did tummy time drawing today to match sounds from the story to musical instruments and to shapes we could make. This is what we did.

Today we have been working on our motor skills. We listened to different styles of music and discussed the base/pitch/speed and discussed how this made us feel. We used our gross motor skills to create large and small movements whilst listening to the music and discussed how everyone’s patterns were different even though we had all done the same thing, just like our feelings can be.

This week we have been looking at the story ‘We’re Going On A Leaf Hunt’. The children helped to choose actions to help retell the story and have been super storytellers. Here is a little snippet of our fabulous storytelling.

Last night some elves snuck into our classroom and transformed it into a winter wonderland! The children have really enjoyed exploring the Christmas areas in their role play and completing the first Christmas challenges set by Eddie the Elf.

This week, we have read the book, drawn a story map, added captions, built the settings, retold the story and even used instruments to tell the story! We hope you enjoy our class retelling! Most of us loved it!
This very special event has brought together nominees from across Green Top’s local community who have been recognised for their invaluable work both with and for the people of Thorne. From food banks to emergency services to care homes – all were presented awards by KS1 children at Green Top, as part of their Expedition ‘Not all superheroes wear capes’. The list and variety of work celebrated this evening was incredible and each and every award was so well deserved. Congratulations to all of you from Green Top!

The classrooms were visited by Christmas elves last night. The children have had a great morning learning and exploring some Christmassy provision.
